Asheville NC's Vice Mayor, Antanette Mosley, a Democrat who appears to have cast ballots in BOTH Georgia and North Carolina in 2008, 2012, and 2014...

...HAS JUST FILED FOR RE-ELECTION!!!!!

She also claimed a "homestead tax exemption" in Georgia which is legally ONLY available to those with a permanent residence.

I read an article detailing the known voter fraud cases over the last few years not long ago. Most of them were Republican voters.

I think the Ashville situation is a legitimate issue for a news media to investigate. I honestly don't know about two of those things you mention above, but I've always thought the beef on Tuberville is hilarious after:
a) RFK getting elected in NY in 1964
b) Hillary getting elected in NY in 2000
c) Mel Carnahan getting elected in Missouri in 2000 despite being......uh.....DEAD, which one would think was a violation of the US Constitution

(Amusingly, Carnahan was the only one of those three who was by any stretch an inhabitant of his state at least until the plane crash).

No Person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen.

I've always thought the defense - "well, he did inhabit, he just wasn't alive" - ranked right up there with "the definition of is."


But with all of the bad we say about folks, I always did think it admirable that John Ashcroft, who probably could have won a lawsuit on it (remember: the Senate at the time was 50-50, so we're talking VERY IMPORTANT) didn't bother with it. I met a guy in early 2001 who had grown up with Ashcroft, had even visited with him since the election. I asked him that point, and he said Ashcroft said, "The people of Missouri decided I shouldn't go on, and I accept their choice."

Nowadays?

Ashcroft would be on the air throwing bombs day and night about a stolen election, a stolen seat, and every other accusation he could think of.

A few counterpoints this fine morning:

1. Tell me you don't know what trolling is without saying you don't know what trolling is.

2. "Whataboutism" is an old Soviet tactic used to deflect criticism. If someone accused the USSR of human rights violations, the Russian response might be something along the lines of "what about the violations in China or Africa? Where is your concern for those?"

This has at least 2 ways of putting an accuser on his or her heels. First, there is the implication the accuser is not really concerned about the wrongful act, but merely has a vendetta against the accused. Second, it can force the accuser to try to distinguish between levels of bad acts...I'm not going after China because its atrocities are (somehow) different from Russias???

"Whataboutism" is a deflection tactic, but the users often don't even realize they are doing it. One person's bad conduct is not excused just because other people got away with the same bad conduct. OTOH, perhaps the conduct isn't bad after all, because it is.........what? Commonplace? Maybe; it's starting to feel that way, anyhow.

It's worth pointing out that this is something we've all been guilty of from time to time, but lately I've been trying to watch for that sort of thing in my responses. Why? Well, it's easy to get called out for it and more to the point, it does nothing to advance the conversation, not on the internet and certainly not in real life. And lastly....

3. Dude, if you are that easily trigged by criticism of Democrats or their party as a whole, why in the name of Jupiter's anus are you clicking on a thread title that guarantees you will soon be reading that sort of thing? If someone came here and started a thread called, "The Pope is the Anti-Christ" am I going to click on it? No. The title gives it away and since I've already read this kind of stuff in the past and found the evidence humorously lacking, I've no interest is reading it again nor arguing with the poster.

Anyway, enough of all that. You and I clearly don't agree on some things, but we've always been cordial with one another. I would very much like for that to continue. A couple of guys who want to be President someday - the very white Gavin Newsome and the very black Wes Moore (who Obama wanted as the running mate of Gretchen Whitmer over Kamala last year) - have tried to lance this boil with variants of, "Look, you're wasting your time." But rest assured, the Purity Partisans will drive that car right off the cliff..........remember my comment in the days after the 2024 election that the Democrats WOULD NOT LEARN ANYTHING from the defeat? (This is not just a Democratic thing, what did the GOP actually learn from 2020?).

Moore said in his veto letter in May that it was a difficult decision to veto the bill, which was a priority of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland. But he wrote there has been enough study of the legacy of slavery, and it was now time to “focus on the work itself” to address it.

But Democrats who control both chambers of the Maryland General Assembly decided the commission was needed to better examine how to do that.

“This topic isn’t easy, but, again, without formal study, reparations risk being dismissed as symbolic or unconstitutional, regardless of moral merit,” said Sen. Charles Sydnor, a Democrat.

Actually, this topic is very easy: it is a political disaster, you're not going to be able to enforce it or actually do it, and the ad makers are going to have a field day with the commercials on this.

It appears to me that Moore knows a disaster in the making when he sees it, but he also has the personal political wherewithal to decide, "I'm not going to let the Idiot Parade just run over me, so go ahead and have your meetings."

Moore might actually have some future potential on a national ticket with those assets, but this won't help anyone else, and it isn't going to happen.

But the damage to organizations like the NIH that generate a large chunk of the basic science that bring new cancer treatments to the clinic for us to use. The damage done is way beyond the cuts in funding. The proper way is to trim it back XYZ% and make it work (And yeah, easier said than done!) but we are going to lose ground across the world in so many areas. And the money spent easily returned a multiple as an economic driver. The partisan hacks (here's looking at you Russell Vought) are so blinded to how the system actually works...

Also Democrats:
Let's tick off those "racist" voters EVEN MORE by kowtowing to a PORTION of our most reliable voting bloc, oblivious to how it plays to the viewer watching at home, who will hear, "Really? I've gotta pay for something neither my nor any of my ancestors actually did?"

Btw, I concur with other stuff. The long-lasting damage this regime has done has been in areas such as scientific progress.

When your only response is "that's racist" to everything, you don't really have much of a platform.
