I had an opportunity to go out on the turf the other day at BDS. It is immaculate. What struck me the most is that it is flat, not crowned for drainage like it used to be. No doubt that is because of the extensive subsurface drainage system.

My question is -- are all of the fields in the conference "flat"? It seems that a crowned field would be very different to throw to the sidelines. Are the QB's having to adjust game to game?

Having been on them all, I wanna say they're all relatively that flat. I'd never actually thought about it before but there you go.

Ole Miss has a field that's artificial and I know it must throw our players off because it's slippery as all heck.

Clemson's field is ridiculous. Standing in one end zone, you can only see people in the other end zone from about the thighs up...I could see how that might throw off a QB on a bomb...but most of them aren't that extreme, and few in the SEC have even a perceptible crown.

I remember being at the 2003 Ole Miss game in Oxford, the first year they had that turf, and watching the punters warm up in pregame. When the ball would hit the turf it would bounce twice as high as any grass surface I had ever seen.

From experience,
Section A Row 1 at Neyland Stadium, you cannot see the other sideline. You saw about there knees up when viewing people on the far sideline.
