Good: 😐
Bad: Tired of hearing all this talk in the off season for it to fall flat to the ground. We got pushed around big time today
Ugly: The mood around here all season unless we somehow run the table, in which I just don’t see it

Ugly - Preparation
Ugly - Execution
Ugly - Adjustments
Ugly - Coaching
Ugly - Defense
Ugly - Attitude
Ugly - Penalties again

There was no good or bad, it was all ugly.

We'll probably be 2-1 headed to Georgia. What a disaster that's going to be.

Good - Germie Bernard. He showed up ready to play. Aside from one busted blocking assignment I thought he did better than okay. The RBs too. When given the chance, they did well. No game breakers, but it was solid enough to be effective if we'd stuck with it.

Bad - I'm a 49er fan. So I follow the NFC West closely. And I knew that our new OC got criticized in Seattle for the same reasons we criticized last year's OC: Too pass happy...not enough running.

Ugly - We're so soft on defense. We tackle like a middle of the road high school team. Don't know that that can be fixed over the course of a couple weeks.

re: the complaints about the OL play, I don't get that at all. There were one or two busts, but aside from that, I thought they played well enough to win. Their play caller has to help them by balancing the offense more. If a defense knows you're going to pass, they'll pin their ears back and rush you all game. But if they have to think, you have a better chance of clean looks downfield. Feels like he got away from it once we got down. I find it hard to imagine that Ty having 40+ passing attempts was in the original gameplan.

Good: opening drive, Germie Bernard, Ty’s effort
Bad: Talent evaluation the last few years, OL after first drive, DL all game, tackling, Kane Wommack’s utter and abject failure to prepare for Gus’s eye candy/misdirection game, WR drops, abandoning the run after the first drive, horribly timed penalties (late hit on Smith killed any hope of a comeback)
Ugly: getting humiliated by a motivated opponent, letting Castellanos back up his talk, the idea that Deboer was caught by surprise by his own team’s lousy play, the realization that the defensive staff may have made disastrous personnel and scheme choices, the morale of the fan base.

Good: Simpson and Bernard

Bad: This “defense,” soft play, the feeling that our program is in big trouble

Ugly: The lack of preparation and this coaching staff’s inability to have this team ready, especially on the road. And that stupid Crimson Crane” pose. Just stop already!

I don’t normally give up after one loss, but I don’t have much to work with here.

The Good- the game’s over.
The Bad- OL, DL, preparation, play calling, unfortunately virtually every aspect of the game.
The Ugly- this team looked so bad in so many areas there’s no way to fix this team in one season with this staff. I know you can’t win ‘em all, but when you lose the same way over multiple seasons it‘s a coaching problem. DeBoer has already broken several win streaks last season and started off with another this year with better talent. If he stays three years, it‘ll take a long time to dig out of this hole.
FSU running through out defense. https://youtube.com/shorts/NRZ2UonPk3o?si=idPehiXAhCzm8YiA

Good: #42 hit on the FSU’s QB in the second half maybe. Probably the best form tackle I saw all game. Germie played great.

Bad: they got away from what worked in the first drive. Just stay patient and plug away. As bad as the game went, we still cut the lead to 7 and needed a stop have a chance to tie the game up. Then the hit on the QB happened.

Ugly: defense taking bad angles and not holding the edge or having mental discipline

This is my last comment on this. The good, bad and ugly are wrapped up all into one: I do know this for a fact: Wommack got outcoached by Gus. He had to know what was coming and yet he stuck with his game plan. You can't simply play soft zone defense against Gus' offense. I've said we should've blitzed more and forced FSU qbs to make quick decisions. Defense simply gave him too much time.

This is the ugly:
DL- no pressure up front. Just stood there and play hand games of "Tag you it." No aggressive. No nothing.
RB: Inconsistent run game.
WRs: Not trying hard to get open, and when they do, dropped passes.

Bad: Simpson didn't do bad, but he definitely didn't help with his tentative decisions. Just throw the ball sometime. He played too game manager style last night.
Team's attitude toward FSU and the game: They definitely got complacent after the opening drive. No urgency. Coaches didn't even lit their butt up on sideline.
OL- Same situation last year.

Good: We saw flash of what the team could be... this team can be real good if they just do what they're supposed to do: execute on the field.

Final thoughts: I'm not worried just yet. We're definitely approaching the level of concern where it's going to be a situation. I rate this situation 8.0 out of 10 for now. Staff and players has a chance to bring it down to 5 or below in the next two weeks.
