The Harmon Forecast - Arkansas

I posted a similar comment on another thread, but I’ll repeat it here if you don’t mind.….I’m sorry about Brodie and I hope young Marc brings his ‘A’ game. We have youth and inexperience everywhere. Everywhere, that is, except the defensive line and linebackers. I look for the Hogs to try to rattle Marc with pressure and force him into bad decisions. It will be a test for your offensive line to keep them out.

Here’s to a great game!

Have to echo these sentiments. I think our D is too strong for the oinkers especially with a specific gameplan to corral Jones. The key will be, I think, how the young WR react to MG and if they know enough to come back to him if he is in trouble. Again, it will be a big test for the O-line.

In the 2nd scrimmage of the summer drills MG went in on the first series and drove down the field for a score to i believe was KB in the endzone....this guy is going to be something.

BC has a great arm and can launch the ball, but i also believe as hard as he throws it it is dangerous when it bounces off the receiver and goes to the defender or it flies over there head, which we have been lucky so far that it hasn't been a close game this season....MG throws a more precise pass from what i've seen with less thrust.

I believe Harmon was going to pick Bama to lose, even if Brodie had not gone down. The game is on the road, and it's our first real test.

Of course, Ole Miss was supposed to be the first real test, but I think Utah State moved past them. ;)

Welcome to the board. :)

I was impressed with Arkansas' play with Texas, and had it not been for a rare senior miscue by Matt Jones, Arkansas would have made it two in a row over the texas Two-Steps. The offesne is better than I thought.

However, last week, it has to be alarming when UL-Monroe scores 20 points on you in Little Rock, so it's still could be a pick 'em.

Not many people outside the Bama Nation expect us to win this game. I imagine CHN will put eight men in the box and dare us to beat them with the pass. I think Marc can do it and if we can have success passing the ball it will open up the running game. Defensively Bama Lee is right about containing Matt Jones. He is a very dangerous player but as he goes Arkansas goes. If we can limit his effectiveness we can win this game. It will be close throughout I think. My early prediciton is Us 20 Them 17 RTR!

I think now is when we will see that inside screen to Prothro run to perfection!! Also looking at the defensive pass stats.....Arkansas ranks 9th in the SEC giving up 614 total yards and 204 per game. Rush defense they rank 7th allowing 135 yards a game and 407 yards on 107 attempts. Their redzone defense ranks dead last vs ours being #1!!!!!!! So in considering all of this I think the game will be won running the ball. Our rush offense ranks #1 in the SEC with theirs being second.......BUT our rush D is also #1 in the sec with theirs being #7. I think whoever controls the LOS and makes the least mistakes wins this game.

My guess

Alabama 35
Arkansas 17

TiderinMiss,

Since I'm from Monroe and know several former players/coaches, I somewhat keep up with the ULM program. Granted I don't think they belong in Div. 1A, they do have some firepower this year on the Offense. Their QB and several WR's are pretty good and their RB is SEC caliber. They hung with Arkansas for a good portion of the game. It was Matt Jones' arm and not his legs that won them the game. He torched ULM's secondary.

As I stated in another thread, if we contain Matt Jones we should win.

Not much difference in LA-Monroe scoring 20 and Utah State scoring 17....One thing that worries me is ARK has already battled a top 10 team while BAMA has played 3 cupcakes...

I agree with those that think the key to this game is our defense...
if we play " bend but don't break, passive defense "...
we'll lose this game...
we must control Matt Jones with pressure...
not by laying back hoping for something to happen...
we must make it happen with pressure...
if we let him dictate the speed of the game...
we'll all be sad Sunday morning...

Matt Jones

One of the keys to this game will be, as has been said ad nauseum, containing M.J. I wouldn't be suprised to see Juwan Garth slated to key on him most of the game, unless the situation dictates otherwise. Given the run stats (gained vs. given up), I have lots of confidence we'll win this game. It will likely come down to turnovers and who gives up the big play. I say run, run, run, run, run, and then get the ball to Prothro and Brown through the air.

Roll Tide.

Well well well....

Let me start by saying we shadow jones and their day is done. Put a backer on him to follow him where ever he is and show him nothing but 8 man fronts and let Castille and peprah handle the pass interceptions and game over. Run the ball and run it some more then hit em with the bomb to Brown. By the way Clemson will be busy that weekend. Just goes to show no merit.

What is so great about Texas's Benson? Or Texas for that matter. Every year they start in the top 5-10 and every year they fall down.

Ark is playing well and so is Bama. Our D is 5th in Nation and our rushing is #1 in the SEC. I know we haven't played anybody to put some validity with those numbers, but who has Ark played except for a mediocore Tex?

I'll take the Tide with our D and running game. If the lines are giving Bama 5 or 6 pts, take them and take your money to the bank!

Don't know what's so great about Benson only that he is on every Heisman watch list in the country. As for what's special about UT, nothing really, excapt that they play fRan's team so I pull for them. They take their yearly beating from OU with class and whip all the other pansy Big Twelve schools. Look for visor head next year in Austin.

Game of the Week *Ohio State 24, Clemson 14 We're picking the Seminoles by 10 over Clemson, but this may be anybody's game. Last November, in Clemson, S.C., the Tigers, then unranked, shocked then-No. 3 F.S.U. 26-10, giving Tommy Bowden his first win over his father in five tries, and in the process ending Florida State's chances for a national championship.

H3LL! they don't even have a clue to what they are pickin' for the game of the week!
Bama by 10........................ROOOLLLLL TIIIIDDEEE!

Tide - 31
Hogs - 7

I don't care if Brodie is out, Guillen will prove himself to all you unfaithful. Tide's defense will contain Jones and force him to pass, which he is not very successful at. Brodie is out, which will give the tide even more reason to dominate.
