That's less than 10 percent of the Captain Marvel opening. Said differently, that's the rounding error for the Avengers: Endgame opening.

No it is not. I don’t think that is the reason.

Just went to see Napoleon. Bottom line: I liked it.
Pluses: Not much of the battle scenes are CGI. They did not take too many liberties with the history (but they did take some). They covered 26 years with a sufficient depth in 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Minuses: Napoleon was too old (except for the Waterloo and St. Helena scenes). Josephine was too young.

My biggest critique is that Napoleon was an absolute genius (the kind of guy who can play ten chess games at one time blindfolded; that kind of genius). He won the siege of Toulon by looking, realizing a fort at a certain point would make Toulon untenable for the British. He tried to build a fort there. The Brits mowed down the guys building the fort (because they knew what it meant). Napoleon renamed it "Fort of Men without Fear (Fort des Hommes sans Peur), got plenty of volunteers to build the fort, and led them in trying again succeeding this time. The Brits withdrew the next day.
The movie shows Napoleon leading a charge at Toulon. (This is more dramatic but less cerebral).
Napoleon at Austerlitz baited the Austrians into attacking (Napoleon desperately needed them to attack him) and when, where, and in the manner they attacked. The movie addressed this French troops using canvas tarps as camouflage. Again, clever, but not nearly as clever as the real story.

Just watched 'The Agony and the Ecstasy" with Charlton Heston and Rex Harrison -- from 1965. Wow -- an epic on many levels. Recorded on TCM.

A 2 hour documentary of the late director Willaim Friedkin. I watched it last weekend on TCM, but see it's also available on Prime.

At any rate....if you are a fan of Friedkin's work or just cinema in general - well worth checking this one out.....

Watching original Matrix again tonight. Amazing a 24 yr old movie holds up for special effects still. Absolutely incredible movie
