The NIT

Ok, the Georgia game is behind us now. Time to put it bluntly: If the NCAA doesn't come aknockin' and the NIT does--do you really want to watch this team in the NIT. I say leave it to the seniors...and I bet their answer might surprise us.

I've said it before, if we get left out of the NCAA, and we turn down the NIT, that is a sign of a poor loser. Sure, everyone would love to be in the NCAA, but how many of y'all were excited for the NIT two years ago? Not many I suppose. How many got more and more excited as we won more games and got deeper into the tourney? I know I sure did....RTR

Bo--I respect your opinion, but I don't see rejecting the NIT as poor sportsmanship. In football, rejecting a bowl bid is not that rare, is done for a variety of reasons. I don't see the NIT as any different. Like the bowls, the NIT is a "for-profit" business venture. Financial considerations alone may warrant not accepting the invitation.

Notice that I'm not doing any bashing here, not asking for anyone's head. My hunch, and it's only a hunch, is that the seniors on this team wouldn't give a flip about playing in the NIT. Heck, I can't tell from what I read in the press that these guys even like each other any more. I haven't read any "one for all and all for one" from these guys since Christmas.

Two years ago I stuck with them through every game of the NIT and would do so again, just like I do with the football team and baseball team--I'm there to the end. It just a question of when the end comes.

Bo I agree, the more games we play, especially in a tourney environment, the better the younger players will be, b/c of experience they will be getting. Plus, these guys do not want ever stopping playing ball. If you are a player & love playing B'Ball, you will play ever chance you get, especially if you are a Senior & this is it for you. Turning down the NIT is not even an option.
