One of my "friends" on Facebook wrote this after the debate tonight:

Just sit back and pay attention people, so called friends, bro's, homegirls, co workers and associates, Facebook friends real true colors and feelingsare about to come out. Just try not to put anything past anyone cause it's really about to get ugly...especially the morning after the election and you check your new feeds, be ready to have to cuss out and delete some friend....just saying I've seen this movie before...

#TEAMOBAMA

I am seeing a lot of minorities writing very highly debatable/questionable things on their personal Facebook accounts that make me believe that if Obama does not win, it is only because America is racist. I am not much for double standards and have personally questioned some of these 'statuses' and asked them exactly why they feel the way they do.

America is divided racially right now between these two candidates. If you truly have political ideals that are against Obama's views, it appears that many are going to feel comfortable as labeling you as a racist. Are there people that are going to vote for Romney just because he is white? Absolutely! Are there a ton of AA that are going to vote for Obama because he is black? You better believe it!

Both of these people are as ignorant and wrong as the other. We should not be voting based on superficial things such as race, looks, charm, etc. Vote who is the best candidate based on their political stances!

>>End Rant

I see the same thing on my FB. When it gets down to it millions of voters will vote by race. They'll have no idea what the candidate they are voting for stands for or in many cases they don't care. They just want a guy with their color skin "in charge".

I haven't deleted anyone yet but I'm not far from it. It got pretty "ghetto" last night during and after the debate on my FB. I had one HS classmate who (up to last night) loves to tell people via her facebook statuses to "research" before you go vote for someone. Last night, after the Obama debacle she posted a pic of Obama and Michelle embracing and put something to the effect of "her people" getting out and going to vote and if "they didn't have a ride" her local church was going around "picking folks up" to take them to vote. So much for researching.....

One of the better things I saw was when a white man posted on his status and said Obama was a ****tard. A black woman wrote on his wall and said, "Mr. *** you better watch what the hell you say on here, you got black friends on here!!!"

She threatened him for not liking Obama. He then went on to say he disliked Obama not because of his race but because of his policies and that he was a big fan of Herman Cain before he dropped out of the election. She continued to blast him with help from her "Klan".

It is really ridiculous just how blatant and racist some minorities have become!

Not to get off topic but this somewhat relates. This is exactly why white people are very reluctant to hire or get involved with black people. It has absolutely nothing to do with whether they think they are "qualified" or not, it has nothing to do with the literal color of their skin. But the fear of once they "let them in", the race card being used as leverage to manipulate the situation to their advantage.

I hired a black lady when I was at Harrah's as an accountant. She didn't have an accounting degree but was a single mom, wanted to go back to school and better herself. I had other candidates "from the outside" who were better qualified that I could have hired (and in retrospect should have hired). But, with her going back to school, taking accounting classes and me being an advocate of giving internal employees first shot. I hired her and was going to take her under my wing so to speak and teach her. This would help her in school and she could put herself in a position to move up the corporate ladder. BIG MISTAKE!!!! Within three months she was showing up for inventory 20-30 minutes late. One time she didn't show up at all. She was routinely late for work, not coming in to work until 8:30-8:45 when we're all supposed to be there at 8:00 am. No phone call explaining what happened or anything. So I began to write her up. On her last write up, before her "Final written warning", she made the statement in the meeting that I was issuing her, her third write up, that I was mistreating her because she was black. I stopped the meeting right there, picked up the phone, called HR and asked that someone immediately come down and sit in this meeting as a witness. She became infuriated. But I told her I was not going to sit here and let her pull out the race card without an HR representative present.

The ONLY REASON she didn't get her way was because a department manager from another department was called in (who was black) and point blank asked did he witness at times her not show up for inventory or show up late. And luckily for me he said "yes". But if he hadn't of said yes I was a fired man. At the end of the day my documentation as a manager didn't mean anything. But the word of another african american who didn't even work in my department did. It meant more than mine. That's a shame. And that my friend is why so many white people refuse to hire blacks. It has nothing to do with qualifications or color of skin but the fear of the race card.

Not getting racial, but yes, there are a whole bunch of folks who will vote for Obama regardless. There nothing that can be done to change their minds, for those minds are already made up.
Just think "47%".

Penn Jillette said it best, "once you say racism, the other side loses automatically." If you label someone racist all they can say is they're not racist. I'm completely sick of the word and I think anyone who uses it in a debate is a complete fool.

People are so easily manipulated that they think what they hear from the people they support is the truth. It baffles me how many people fall into this political trap. Think for yourself for a change, don't let the media manipulate you and do the thinking for you.

There are a helluva lot more racists on both sides than anyone is willing to admit. Everyone wants to accuse the other team and not their own. America is in denial about it. People always want it to be their enemy who's racist. They just never can bring themselves admit that it's also true of their friends. This is why you never see an honest conversation about race. People only want to talk about half the problem. The problem is always with the other half, never their own half.

Let's say that I notice someone unfairly discriminating against another person on the basis of race. How can I go about addressing this problem without having the courage to call the behavior exactly what it is? Doesn't the solution to every problem begin with frankly confronting it in honest terms?

That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the people who throw the word around just because they disagree with someone. Just because there are white people who don't support Obama, it doesn't mean they're racist.

If someone does use a racial slur, by all means call them out for it. But don't make accusations about people simply because they have a different opinion. That's not debating, that's insulting.

You know, I get on and rant after things like the debate last night...I should just remove myself from watching or listening to any of it, but this kind of thing just makes me want to scream. For some people (yes - on both sides) using race as an argument instead of sound fiscal policy and a basic understanding of economics, I mean, they get to vote. Just doesn't seem right and is somewhat depressing...end mild rant...

Unfortunately, these days you can't. Logic and common sense no longer matter in these types of issues....

Facebook is evil -- and I'm only half-joking....

The biggest solution?

Just quit engaging people on Facebook.....problem solved.....we managed to live hundreds of years without -- you probably wouldn't miss it at all

By the looks of it, you and the person you quoted are both guilty of the Appeal to Emotion fallacy. Your friend was trying to appeal to his friends on facebook who are the same color. You are trying to do the same on this forum. Therefore, you're both trying to appeal to others using emotion over race. Good work OP, good work.
