Bad, bad call by the refs in the 4th. Brady clearly pump-faked and was bringing the ball back into his body when it was knocked loose and recovered by Oakland. Fumble, right? Seemed that way. Pats challenged the call and won...incomplete pass! What a load of dung!

NFL Rule 3, Section 21, Article 2

Note 2: When a Team A player is holding the ball to pass it forward, any intentional forward movement of his arm starts a forward pass, even if the player loses possession of the ball as he is attempting to tuck it back toward his body. [Emphasis mine] Also, if the player has tucked the ball into his body and then loses possession, it is a fumble.

Note 3: If the player loses possession of the ball while attempting to recock his arm, it is a fumble.

According to the rules, the refs made the right call. The Raiders did get screwed. Not by the refs, but by the rulebook.

That may be the rule but in all the years I've been watching the NFL (about 30 years), I've seen the same play ruled a fumble literally hundreds of times. If you're going to have that rule, then it needs to enforced ALL the time, not mainly in a playoff game at a critical juncture in the game.

I still think it was a horrible call.
