If you feel that they are a southeastern team, more power to you. We might as well get U of Illinois while we are at it, since I'm looking at the map and they are pretty much neighbors
Illinois doesn't share a boarder with Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee, Missouri does. Missouri could be a natural fit in the SEC and form a natural rivalry with one of these one team states. aTm is another good fit being located close to Louisiana and Arkansas. aTm has played more games with Arkansas and LSU than all but a couple of the Big 10/11/12/whatever conference members. Missouri was a border state during the Civil War so culturally we have just as much in common with them as they do with Illinois but we have nothing in common with Illinois besides I think there is an unwritten rule that the SEC cannot take a state that borders on a Great Lake. ;)

I understand what you're saying, I just think we need to stay true to the southeast. Arkansas is kind of pushing it being that far west. Mizzou would bring in great new markets, but we would be better off getting southern teams in FL, NC, or VA

I'm biased, but I would love to see the SEC expand into NC and Va. Missouri today is sort of southern in parts, like south Missouri and rural areas. Missouri was considered a Southern state during the Civil War and antebellum period. St Louis does not have a southern feel to it, on the otherhand. It is definately a midwestern, pro sports town, and most people in St Louis identify more with the midwest than south.

You're exactly right. Having lived in both Alabama and Missouri, trust me when I tell you that the people are not much different from one another.

If we ever got ready to move towards a 16 team conference Mizzou and aTm in the west and someone like NC, Duke, Virginia, V tech or maybe even WVa in the east. They all are located along the same parallel of each other. I would say no to any team from Florida or Georgia.

Schools keep being mentioned which lie in states which already have an SEC member. It's been decided at the highest levels that no school will be added in a state which already has an SEC member school. That closes out FSU, Miami, GAtech, Memphis, Louisville, Clemson, etc, There's really not much point in keeping on bringing those names forward...

OK, I realize this is the off-season, but this is ridiculous.

The Big 10 (plus one, plus another one) does not want them.

The Pac 10 (plus 2?) apparently doesn't want them.

I know the Big 12 (minus 2) would love to get rid of them.

So, why the hell would we want them?

O/T, but did anyone see where the gubner (of Mizzou, I believe) said that getting rid of Nebraska and Colorado was good, because they dragged down everyone's basketball RPI rating? Great stuff; even the gubners are getting involved in the mud slinging. Gee, almost sounds like DC!

Football season can not get here soon enough.

Scratch Florida, the SEC will not target any university where we already have one, NC or Va I can see BTW Missouri's southern latitude is below Virginia's.

I would rather see Missouri come in than Duke, North Carolina, or one of the Virginia's. Missouri and A&M would be a good addition for the SEC, 14 teams and I can't imagine how the East and West Divisions would look then.

That would be simple: Barn goes east. Yes, we would probably lose the UT game every year.

There's only one team worthy of an invite to the SEC, and that's Notre Dame.

Missouri?

They bring us....what exactly?

sip
Sip, I usually agree with most things you have to say, but Notre Dame in the SEC? Please, Please, Please - NO! I'm sure there would be reasons, but ND and SEC just don't go together!

I'd love to have TAM and VT, and I could live with Missouri, though.

I would gather if UNC is a target, then to capture them, the SEC would have to offer Duke, Wake, and NC State. That would effectively lockdown the entire state of North Carolina, but it would also effectively destroy the ACC. The teams Virginia and Northward might join the Big East. The teams south of NC will have problems.

My opinion.

Chip brown said on espn , that Mizzou would be expelled from the big 12 if it stayed together . I guess the big 12 is waiting for arkansas to come begging, another chip brown exclusive. Maybe they will swap places . we should ask chip what he thinks and assume the opposite.

Everyone keeps wanting to add tough teams in the West, but I say we add 2 tough teams to the East. Maybe then they will push Vandy over to our side. And hey if they add 4 to the East, they can also push Kentucky over to the West!

Alabama
Auburn
LSU
Ole Miss
Miss. State
Vandy
Kentucky
Arkansas

Seems like the perfect SECw to me :D

I had no idea you were privy to the 'highest level''- I hope the level you are talking about is not ESPN cause they have been wrong about everytime.

I would rather the SEC surround the southeast than to go above the mason-dixon line to get a school that no one want to travel to see.
