I clicked on this movie today...and it is terrific. About the child chess prodigy Dennis Hassibis who eventually becomes a Cambridge graduate and cofounder of Deep Mind -- an AI company that was bought by Google. They solve the "protein folding problem" and then release their results to the world so that any and all interested scientists can benefit and even enhance their work. The early focus of the company is to develop AI so that it could learn on its own.
This is truly fascinating -- and is free on Amazon Prime.
I would imagine that some football coaches are using AI to figure out which offensive or defensive schemes/plays will be most effective in a given game.
