I'm feeling a tight game. Both teams will be fired up and ready to play. The rest should help texas smaller and fast players hang in well for much of the first 3 quarters. The long break just sets up for a Defensive game in my mind. I expect one or both teams to try a trick play or something they haven't ran all year once or twice in the game probably early trying to take advantage of being so pumped up and aggresive on defense. If someone is successful the score might be higher than I think but if not. I'm thinking 20-17 or 17-14ish type of game. Come on Bama prove me wrong come out and feed the ball to Ingram and Richardson and play action the TE's and win by 14+. I forgot to add my concerns on Kick off coverage or punt coverage. This could be a diference maker in the outcome.

I am not going to tr and pick a score as I suck at it, but, I think that the advantage for Alabama is that they are hungry. After last years disappointment, Coach Saban will have these guys focused and ready to play. WHen our guys are this motivated and hungry, they willl make their asses quit. We saw what their motivation did in the SECCG.

I would think the long lay-off would affect a passing teams timing much more than a running team. :)

I think it is a push either way in terms of the layoff. true the timing between the QB and WR will be off a bit due to the layoff. But could the timing of the Oline not be disrupted by a long layoff with a power running game?

27-13 BAMA. I just don't see them getting into the end zone more than once. I think we will wear them down with the run and they will find their run defense isn't as strong out of conference where the backs will hit you. TX is the best team in the Big 12, which I think is the second best conference so they are a pretty good team. Because of that I don't see the blowout happening, but I would love nothing more than to be surprised with one.

From a fans standpoint those of us who live in TX have a little extra skin in the game. Unlike a normal rivalry there is no rematch next year. If we were to lose this game we would have to hear about it for who knows how long. I have UT admin in the family, work with a bunch of UT grads and most of my neighbors are UT fans. Life would be much more enjoyable if we blow them out.

Alabama - 21
Texas - 20

Hard fought defensive game. I don't think it will be greater than a 3 point margin of victory either way.

I agree about having to hear about it should they win! It is not the UT Grads I worry about but all the "fans" such as a lot of my neighbors who never went to UT or care about UT unless they are playing for the title.

My wife is an Aggie (we all have our faults) but, she and I laugh at all the cars riding around with brand new UT flags and passengers wearing brand new UT hats, T-shirts/jerseys. Once Bama wins you won't see the clothes, hats or flags again!

Ironically, we were in Mobile for the Holidays and saw a lot of Bama "fans" as well. I've been in Houston 18 plus years now. I wouldn't say they have any more fair-weather fans than any other school, including Bama.

re: The time has come!-pick the score-bama-texas! And give reasons!-NO smack with rivals

I've given this game a lot of thought.

Here's what I forecast.

I think Bama will win. I think it will be a blowout.

I base my prediction on the fact that Texas has been notoriously slow coming out of the gate on offense this year. Even against vastly inferior opponents. And they have faced two very physical football teams(Oklahoma and Nebraska) and weren't effective offensively against either one.

Therefore, I see us getting up early, even if it's only 13-3 or 10-0 before halftime. That will take Texas out of the opportunity to try and establish a running game, which they MUST have if they hope to stay in this football game.

They will then become one or two dimensional. Either McCoy running or McCoy passing.

That simply won't get the job done. Rest assured Coach Saban and Coach Smart have a plan in place to drive Colt out of his mind with multiple blitz and coverage packages. He's a great QB but he's going to be confused all night. And without a running game to support him he's going to be a duck floating on a pond with a bunch of hunters getting after him. With high powered rifles.

Texas is an outstanding football team. Very good. I respect what Mack Brown has accomplished.

But I don't think they're the same caliber team as Florida.

Florida is bigger, faster, and just as well coached. Plus they may have had the best player in the history of college football as their Quarterback.

IF we're totally focused, which I have to think we will be, I see 38-13 Bama.

I think we'll hold Texas to about the same number of points Nebraska and Oklahoma did and I think we'll blow it open in the second half by simply being more physical on both sides of the ball.

I said it before the season when I predicted a National Title......

"Yes, we're that good"

Time will tell. You never know in one single football game.

But that's my score and I'm sticking to it.

Well, Texas sells more of that stuff than any other school in the country. I'm sure that the athletic department appreciates the contributions, as it helps fund the other sports.

Bama 27
Texas 20

Game is tight all the way thru, but Bama scores the only TD of the 4th, to secure the win. In other news, I get arrested in L.A. for crashing a celebrity party during the post-game celebration.

re: The time has come!-pick the score-bama-texas! And give reasons!-NO smack with rivals

I usually have a good sense for games. I have only had a nervous feeling for 2 games this season...LSU and Auburn. Turns out that I had a good reason to be nervous because they were pretty close games. I didn't feel the least bit nervous going into the SECCG because I just "knew" we were going to beat FL this year. I could feel it.

Now how do I feel about this game? I feel like Bama is going to come through and win the game by 17 points. 34-17 is my pick. Roll Tide.

Same ole song and dance, Leave them battered and bruised by halftime then own the second.

Texas may shut down Ingram early but first down passing and overlooked Richardson will open up the running game. Mistake free ball control offense will chew the clock and keep McCoy on the sidelines. Ingram will find his grove late second then own third and fourth. Keys OL McElroy Peek Richardson.

McCoy makes bad decisions when under pressure, Saban and Smart will throw the book at McCoy leaving him frustrated and out of sync the entire game. Defensive formations and tight coverages will allow the DL and LB's to have a field day creating sacks and forcing turnovers. Keys Rolo spying McCoy, shutting down short passing game, Darus and Anders .

The ball control formula worked great against FL. Limit the times their O has the ball. We need to score TDs in the red zone and not give them any short fields to work with, eg no TOs. 30-17 Bama.

A pretty well written prediction from a PSU fan:

link...
The author should stick to the game analysis and stay away from story telling. He is trying to tell a story that just isn't there. Coach Bryant's legend wasn't born in Junction and CNS doesn't feel pressure from Coach Bryant's legend. CNS pressures himself more than anyone else could. Also, anyone who knows anything about CNS knows he doesn't sleep. ;)

LOL - yeah, he admits later in the thread that he took a great deal of license in the story telling...

re: The time has come!-pick the score-bama-texas! And give reasons!-NO smack with rivals

I think this will be similar to the LSU game. UT will come out fired up and with a bit of a chip on their shoulder at being the underdog. I think McCoy will put up some big numbers between the 20s but I don't think they'll have that much success in the redzone. Ultimately the game is won in the trenches and that is where we are superior. The Tide will grind it out and wear them down. We'll take control in the 4th quarter and put it away.

27-20, Bama.

Ingram will have about 125 yards rushing. GMac will have about 235 passing.

31-20

I predict Texas will be up early as we adjust to their offense, but Bama puts it to them as the game progresses. Rush yards is the difference in the game for both sides.
