His biggest problem is that he plays for the Seahawks...Other than Ken Griffey, JR, who is the last professional player from Seattle to get any love...Steve Largent, maybe? And he was underrated, too..It's just so obscure up in the Pacific NW...

When he gets with a new team this offseason, he'll get more exposure and more love, IMO

The Seahawks treat Shaun like crap. How do you give Hasselbeck - an overrated PoS QB in my opinion - a huge contract before you take care of Shaun. He is on pace to have a 2000 yard season and break the single-season rushing TD mark, and the Seahawks basically act like giving Shaun his just due is secondary.

Also he isnt a "flashy" guy. You never hear of him complaining, whining, or making anything about him.

When he scores a TD he hands the ball to the ref and goes to the sideline.

Boring to the media. He comes to work, runs, and scores, and goes home.

Holmgren is a west-coast offense pass-happy coach. He spent his formative years with BYU and the 49er's under Bill Walsh. He wants an offense where the focus is on the passing game. In his system, the running game should mainly exist to support the passing game.

Shaun is a great runner, but isn't as good as some other backs in the role of receiver. He's decent, but Holmgren has questioned his willingness to work at being a better all-around back. Shaun wants to run the ball... that's his strong suit... and Holmgren wants something else from Shaun, that might not be a strength.

When at Alabama, Shaun was criticized sometimes for not making an effort to improve his pass-blocking skills. That was supposedly why he wasn't made a starter until his junior year. I remember the statement being made by one of Stallings coaches that Shaun wasn't keen on practicing and learning all of the roles that a running back must fulfill. He was acknowledged as the best pure running back even as a freshman, but until he made strides across the board in all phases, he wouldn't start.

I know that Shaun likes Seattle and would like to stay there but, even as well as he has done there, I think that he might be a better fit somewhere else. If he was implemented into a system that really fit his strong suit, he would probably be the unquestioned premier back in the league.

RTinGA, You must not be watching the same Shaun Alexander play that I have. He's got some of the best touchdown celebrations of all time. He goes on The Best Damn Sports Show every week and the host and the other guys give him a different touchdown celebration to do every week. As for Holmgren, he is a self righteous jerk who has invested a lot of time in Matt Hasselback and thinks he can mold him into another Bret Favre. The fans love Shaun and are luke warm toward Hasselback and it drives CMH crazy. That's why he craps on Shaun the way he does.

I'm not sure but it seems he is getting more carries this year. I know inside the 10 he is, so maybe Coach Mike woke up.
I think it finally dawned on Holmgreen that he's a much better coach when Shaun carries the ball a lot.
