The way too early discussion on whether Ty Simpson should return next season or enter the draft

Is that because you think Mack has seen the writing on the wall with Russell? Or is that because you think Ty comes back for 2026? Or something else entirely? Just curious. I wouldn’t blame him - but with Russell getting more reps on Saturday, do we know that Russell has more or less supplanted him on the depth chart?
I don't see Ty and Mack coming back to the team at all. We have incoming QBs and it'll be crowded room.

That may or may not happen but it’s too early to definitively make a guess.

Ty’s decision will be up in the air 1st. He might come back he might not.

If he goes to the NFL I would expect a new Spring Battle for QB1

We are at the end of the year and all signs point to Mack still being QB2 and he looks improved.
That's true, but Mack as No. 2 doesn't mean nothing once the season is over.

I'm not so sure AM will hit the portal. He was recruited by CKD and CRG at Washington and transferred here to play for CKD. There's obviously a strong bond there. He's been in their system for 3 years and should really understand what they want to do. If he feels like he has a shot at starting, I think he'll stay.

It basically all hinges on our OL taking a step in the right direction. Carroll has built up some reps, so hopefully he can handle speed better than Formsby. Proctor is what he is.
You have nailed it. It all goes back to the O-line. That is what is holding this team back. I agree with many on here that we don't have a Henry, Richardson, or Harris in the backfield, but the backs we have are good enough to get the job done if they have good blocking and they don't have it on a regular basis. This has also affected Ty as teams with top flight DL's or that are willing and able to bring blitzes from different angles can get to him. I think it's affecting his play because he has no idea when a block will just be flat missed or a blitzer will not be picked up at all.

let's hope, but Carroll looked pretty darn bad against OU giving up the hit that caused the fumble and that was not even the 'speed rusher', it was the 'bull rusher' and ran right around him.

Not exactly reassuring but at least he’s confident still
He's in a position that he can't say the obvious, that his oline is horrible. So he he has to talk in vague positive terms. We all know why hes struggling, the OL can't consistently keep rushers off of him.

Fair enough, but thatr does not explain the difference in Ty against UGA and Vandy was not Ty against LSU.
O-line is the same. Ty's performance is different.

IMO there are a few things going on here. One, teams now have plenty of tape on our preferred plays, tendencies, etc with this year’s offense. So they are defending our passing attack better. Two, and more importantly, we are so atrocious at running the ball that teams barely have to defend it or expend any effort to stuff us. They can therefore tee off on Ty and the passing game without much risk. IMO the running game- or complete lack of- is a giant millstone around this team’s neck. And I don’t know if it is blocking, scheme, player types, or playcalling to blame. It’s kinda moot, we can’t run for nothing, and that isn’t going to change this season. Best case scenario is we improve during the longish break between the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs/bowls.
