OJ Howard involved in the offense. It seems that mobile tight ends run freely in both the NFL and college. I just don't see many of our opponents being capable of covering him. What am I missing here?

Blake Simms couldn't handle the simplified game plan that was put in front of him, so we had to transition to the no huddle offense to simplify it for him. How can we expand the offense when the QB can't run the plan we have?

Expanded offense
Better CB play
Better ST

I would argue that Blake handled the "simplified gameplan" pretty well, but that in and of itself may be the issue. Can he do more than what we saw against WVU?

Lucky me...I'm already seeing it...

From today's practice report

Sophomore defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson made his voice heard at practice, as he yelled at freshman Josh Frazier on Wednesday. Robinson made the freshman redo a drill because he didn't like the way it looked the first time.

Robinson, D.J. Pettway, Brandon Ivory and Jonathan Allen led the defensive linemen through individual drills. The rest of the guys behind them lined up in groups of three.

New offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin was also vocal during Wednesday's practice. He yelled at running back Derrick Henry from across the field.

"Stop walking, Derrick Henry," Kiffin said. "That's three drills in a row you've walked to."
Some accountability....Just want to see our team hold each other accountable.

Coach Saban made a point last week (maybe on "Hey Coach" or maybe during his final press conference last week). He said that when the 2008 class came in (Julio, Ingram, Hightower, Upshaw, Barron, Cody, etc.), they were coming to build a dynasty; to build a foundation. Most of the guys now are coming to here to shine in what those guys built. I can understand it. Kids are fickle. But that's what gets us beaten too.

So it's great to see people being called to task no matter how low (Frazier) or high (Henry) they may be on the totem pole.

I'd like to see a zone read play every now and then just to show the D that we can run it.
And maybe a CB blitz (Javy says hello)
More OJ in the passing game, as well as the H-back.
As already mentioned, if you're a CB, look for the ball. And if you're the Mike LB, don't look so lost. Maybe DePriest will fix that.

1. People to realize we didn't play as bad a everyone is making it out to be.

2. Blake to continue doing what started last Saturday. Taking care of ball and moving offense up and down the field with long drives.

3. Cb's to get head turned around to find the ball and knock a few balls away or get a few int when they get the chance.

4. Special teams coverage to not give up any big plays.

5. Having 2 rb and 1 wr with at least 100 yards.

Last but not least - Kicker and punter continue dominating with consistency and accuracy.

1. DB's fighting through their blocks and making tackles.
2. More running game to take pressure off Sims/Coker.
3. O.J. Howard involved in the offense.
4. Kickoff coverage staying in their lanes.
5. Trey DePriest leading the defense.

Just to be devil's advocate here, what does this tell us about Coker then?

2 RBs in the backfield, misdirection - we need to utilize our speed, and better play from our secondary.

What makes you think he couldn't handle the game plan Saturday? Could you tell from watching or are you going off Saban saying Blake got rattled at one point?

Why does it matter if Bama went no huddle? We did it under Mac and Nuss and their respected QBs. That's nothing new for us.

I know it's blue font, but most folks (if any) aren't saying he's the "savior" but some are saying they want to see what potential he might bring.

Can't believe anybody on this board wouldn't want to know, especially since CNS apparently wants to know.
I honestly don't now why anybody wants to know. It isn't like OUR evaluation is going to make any difference about whether he plays or not.

Truthfully, I sort of see this being like Simms/McCarron. I will go to my grave believing the coaching staff knew McCarron was going to be the qb, but they let Simms settle it once and for all by putting him in the game to show he wasn't ready. Some of you may have insight into that, but that has always been my feeling about the "competition".
