FSU coach said that he already changed his long FG personnel in practice last week because of the War Damn Miracle return.
He put in faster players for the long FG package.

Would have liked to see Cooper lined up in FG protection and take a pass from AJ, no way one guy could have tackled him in the open field. It's hard, and probably foolish and very nit-picky, to critique or criticize CNS or his staff for anything. Granted even just ONE of the 3 missed FG prior to the final play vs. Auburn wins the Iron Bowl. Having said that, go to the 1:04 mark of this video where Denver attempts (and makes!) a 64 yard field goal.

Notice how the Denver players fire off the line after the ball is kicked and fan out like they are covering a kickoff. Tenn. had a player back under the goalpost for a possible return. Denver smartly played to cover a return.
Bama did NOT do this on the fateful final kick of the Iron Bowl. A fundamental mistake you will probably never see a Saban coached team make again.
Not only was AJ not the holder, but Cade not kicking meant Bama didn't have a former MLB on the field to help with the tackle.Would have liked to see Cooper lined up in FG protection and take a pass from AJ, no way one guy could have tackled him in the open field.
Why wasn't AJ holding? Do kickers have their own holders that they prefer like pitchers have catchers they prefer? Not only was AJ not the holder, but Cade not kicking meant Bama didn't have a former MLB on the field to help with the tackle.
Mandell has held all of Adam's kicks this year. Why wasn't AJ holding? Do kickers have their own holders that they prefer like pitchers have catchers they prefer?
ugh, sometimes I think CS needs to hire someone to just think outside the box lol I'd do itMandell has held all of Adam's kicks this year.
Aren't they a bit contradictory or was it simply a case of our guys onfield not executing the coaches instructions? It's hard, and probably foolish and very nit-picky, to critique or criticize CNS or his staff for anything. One of Alabama's players in the NFL said that this was something practiced every Friday. I don't remember who it was, be he was very surprised at the breakdown given how often that practiced that scenario when he was at Alabama.Aren't they a bit contradictory or was it simply a case of our guys onfield not executing the coaches instructions?
It was Michael Williams. He said the players didn't flank out like they were supposed to.One of Alabama's players in the NFL said that this was something practiced every Friday. Did Saban remind them before they took the field? I have no idea, but I doubt it. If not, do we rip him the way that so many ripped the GA staff for not reminding their players to knock any pass down on that play? I wouldn't, but I didn't blame the GA staff, either.
I pondered this post quite a bit, it's obvious Coach Saban is a bit of a living legend amongst the Bama faithful and as a newbe and not one well versed in football, tactics or man management I thought it best to keep my own counsel. Your point though about the 3 missed FGs prompted me, I remember thinking after the first miss that you could see the confidence visibly draining from the kickers face as Coach Saban berated(?) him after it. I don't know enough about his style of management to know if that is normal or expected but for the week after the Iron bowl I couldn't shake the feeling that if he hadn't been berated after the first miss the kicker may not have missed the following attempts. It's hard, and probably foolish and very nit-picky, to critique or criticize CNS or his staff for anything. Are you sure that Saban yelled at him? I have never seen Saban yell at a kicker before.I pondered this post quite a bit, it's obvious Coach Saban is a bit of a living legend amongst the Bama faithful and as a newbe and not one well versed in football, tactics or man management I thought it best to keep my own counsel. I was thinking the same thing...Not only was AJ not the holder, but Cade not kicking meant Bama didn't have a former MLB on the field to help with the tackle.
I've actually been "sick" sick. As well as the other kind..................I'm still sick. Not much else to say.![]()
