one thing that goes against Brennan is that it's widely perceived that he's a "system" qb. Yes, he's talented, but that system allows him to throw for ungodly yards. When he was injured with the concussion his backup threw for over 400 yards, and when voters see/hear that they automatically discount some of his accomplishments. Timmy Chang lit the league up and where is he now? Yep, cut by the Cardinals, Lions, Eagles and finally picked up the Hamilton Tiger-Cats where he is holding a clip board.

JPW would put up huge numbers in Hawaii's offense......

People keep throwing the number of TD's Tebow has scored as the reason for him to win but I think that is partially due to the way they use him relative to how other quarterbacks are used and the vast amount of talent around him. Its great that he has lasted as long as he has being used that way, but the stats are only part of how I judge a player, To me McFadden is the ONLY thing Arkansas has and he was good enough to lead them to an 8 win season and and upset of LSU, thats about as impressive as Florida's 9-3 record in a weak Eastern division. McFadden is my choice.

Tebow if he stays healthy will probably win it next year if he doesn't win it this year, The Highsman is all about hype and nobody has a bigger hype machine than Tebow. If he does win it this year I see this as being a negative for Florida as it makes Tebow even more of a target than he is now, Its certainly not going to help them win games.

I think people need to give Dick, Hillis, and Jones some credit for the win over LSU. Yes, McFadden had a good game against the Tigers...but so did those other three guys. To say there is no other talent on the Razorbacks roster is a slap in the face to those other guys who helped knock off the #1 team in the nation.

Yep, Hillis and Jones will both play on Sundays, along with DMac. Maybe the best backfield ever (less the QB)...

Either player is well suited for the Heisman. To me, the Heisman winner should be the one player that, if the team did not have that player, would be a lousy team. Let's look at 2000.

1. Chris Weinke FSU 1,628 2. Josh Heupel OU 1,552 3. Drew Brees PU 619 4. Does something look out of place here? Does anybody really think Chris Weinke make FSU an all-world team that year by himself? Oklahoma had a beast team in 2000, and Heupel had his hand held the entire year. Drew Brees is a better pick, because he played for Purdue and only had one decent WR and nothing else on that offense. Then we get to Mr. Jesus himself, LT. He's THE reason TCU isn't a cellar dweller anymore. He rushed for over 400 yards in one game, and TCU plays decent OOC teams most years. Without LT, TCU would have been 2-9, instead of 10-1 that year.

To me, DMac is one of the few reasons (not the sole reason) that Arkansas is even a decent team now. He's impacted that team in a similar fashion to LT, albeit not as dramatic of an impact. He definitely is worthy of the Heisman.

In Tebow's case, it's hard to say exactly how much he has impacted his team. Florida did win the national title last year, and you could argue that Tebow played a crucial role last year. Tebow has been a complete workhorse for the team this year, which makes me think Urban is using him as a crutch and Florida may not really be all that good this year.

Going by pure impact factor, Dennis Dixon would have had a strong case. After his injury, Oregon started getting blown out by everybody.

Overall, I have to say it has to be Tim Tebow. DMac rushed for 61 yards against Florida International. Tebow has put up ridiculous numbers against pretty much everybody.

The Heisman isn't an MVP award, nor it is intended to be given to the best player on the best team. Unfortunately most people don't understand this and come up with lots of asinine logic as to who should win.

It's Tebow. He had the most oustanding year. The year he had was perhaps the greatest in SEC history, McFadden's wasn't.

This is a letter from june jones.

I said this on ESPN Today: The media picks the Heisman Trophy winner. No longer will it go to a guy like it did years ago on a 3-8 team. It just doesn't happen. My point was that my quarterback has been labeled a `system quarterback' for three years. He is the best passer in college history. He is. There is no question about it.

Tim Tebow is in a system. The last quarterback who was in that system, if you had asked me about Alex Smith, he was a system quarterback I thought when we were watching him. Talented. But I didn't see him in an NFL passing (system). Colt Brennan plays in an NFL passing game. You can dial it up and see that it is not a system. Tim Tebow's system is a college system. He is a great quarterback who'll probably win a national championship. He's competitive; he's all those things. But a lot of his stuff comes off little dives, fades, things he is not going to do in the National Football League. That's my point.

I think Jake Locker (from Washington) is a great athlete. I'd love to be a part of coaching a kid like that. But I said what I said and I mean it. I said this too on national radio today and probably take some heat from it.

On ESPN GameDay, they are promoting Tim Tebow to win the Heisman, which he'll probably win. My quarterback is the best player, trust me. But they (ESPN GameDay) said, and we watch at the hotel and listening to it for last six weeks, they said as they were going off the air 'Tim Tebow has accounted for 53 touchdowns in one season, the most in college football history.' I said you guys just told a lie. Last year, my quarterback threw for 58 touchdowns and ran for another (five). I got my point across. You guys ripped me a new one yesterday, and I'm going to say it again and stand by what I said, my quarterback is the best college football player in America.

I did not add Tebow's team has three loses or is not in a BCS game. I wish I had that info, why didn't you call me? The bottom line is I irritated them because they knew I was right. But I did get a whole bunch of emails and calls from Florida State people that said 'Thanks for finally saying that.”

Exactly - the Heisman is supposed to go to the most outstanding player that season. To try to make it an MVP award just makes it impossible to go to team that is loaded with talent.

With as much talent as USC had stockpiled, they probably could have won the same number of games with or without him in 2005. The fact that USC had other talented backs behind him and an excellent defense, shouldn't disqualify him from the Heisman.
