Munching while I'm watching television.....and it's hard. I've even gone so far as to rationalize that animal crackers and pretzels are healthy choices, and they are okay in small quantities. I measured out 20 animal crackers and ate them. Went back for 20 more. So now I've taken up drinking. Water, that is. And that's not working out well either. I can't tell you how many times I have to get up in the night. Perhaps I should give up television altogether and get on the treadmill. Perhaps that would cure me from it all, but I'll never do it. Apparently, I'd rather get up in the night because I lack self-discipline!
Oh yeah. It took me a while to finaly whoop this bad habit but I did. I know you haven't asked for advice but if you would like to stop the cravings to snack you may want to try what eventually stopped me from snacking. Oh, and the side effects is weight loss. :biggrin2:
-Eat a breakfast high in protein and drink one glass of milk. DO NOT SKIP BREAKFAST.
-Eat a piece of fruit between breakfast and lunch or with your lunch.
-Eat one salad a day with a meal or even as a meal. Romain lettuce and darker leaf greens are the best. I like to open a can of tuna or cut up some grilled chicken in mine.
-Walk at least one mile 6 days a week or two miles four days a week.
-If you want an evening snack cutting up an apple and/or banana in a bowl and adding one of those little cups of yoplait light yogurt is very, very filling and will more than likely satisfy your sweet tooth.
This may seem like a lot but its not and it works. Don't worry about portions to begin with because they will begin to decrease subtly. I lost 35 lbs just doing this. What happened with me is that my "cravings", especially at night left. I don't have late night cravings anymore. So I don't sit there and have a mental war within myself "Should I eat or shouldn't I?" I'm simply not hungry. The above enabled me to eat more filling calories and what I found was I started eating much less and the weight comes off. If you want it to come off faster exercise more or at a faster pace.
Hope this helps. Because I know where you're coming from.
