5. - Dakota Ball - DT - 6-2/282 Ball plays several positions in HS the most intriguing of them is TE. When you have a defensive lineman with the ball skills of a TE and the motor of an H-Back he's bound to be a special player. Blocking this guy from the end position is Saban's 3-4 will give offensive linemen fits letting our LB's graze and feast on ball carriers. His skill set is unique including a high motor and bad intentions.
I hear him compared to former Georgia DE David Pollack a good bit. High motor...

Man... I'm still exhausted from NSD last week, but a few in no particular order are: Nick James, Barry Sanders, Dorial Green-Beckham, Kwon Alexander, and Winston/Lambert
We haven't officially offered Nick James yet but I expect we will shortly. He has basically already said that he's either going to Bama or LSU if offered.
His Dad is a huge LSU fan though so that could be an obstacle. At the Army combine his official height and weight was 6'6" 332.
He's very athletic for his size and not really chunky. He's just flat out big and strong.
If I hear anything down here I'll pass it on.

Not including the ones we already have...

1. Nick James (6'5 330-350lb NG...we run a 3-4...no brainer)
2. DGB (JJ esque WR...again easy pick)
3. Barry Sanders Jr (sick RB...we're Alabama...we run the ball therefore need RBs)
4. Kwon Alexander (great LB, and we love good LBs here at Bama)
5. Johnathan Taylor (big, dominating DT. Next to James this would be one hell of an intimidating defensive front)

All I've seen of James is a camp video and I was sold. The kid is nasty... a serious mean streak plus all the measureables. Other than the fact that I don't know what I'm talking about when reviewing highlight vids, I think he'll be a fan favorite is he consistently has Bama in the picture. IMO its just a matter of time before we offer.

Nick James is a beast. I wouldn't want to block him. I have a friend that saw him twice at Long Beach and said that he gives up on plays sometimes but he's only a senior in HS. If he ends up going to UA he could end of sitting a year behind JW to work on his endurance. If Nick James ends up going to our Junior Camp next weekend I think CNS will give him an offer

1. Winston
2. Dorial Green Beckham
3. Reggie Ragland
4. Kwon Alexander
5. Nick James (if only because of how much his name reminds me of a certain 70's singer, and chappel show character)

Eddie Williams would be on this list as well and I'm surprised I havent seen his or RR mentioned more on these lists. keeping their commitments is as imporatant as getting some of these other guys and its possible that RR could help us sway Kwon and Winston.

based on positional need.

1. an tall long OT type to RS behind Cyrus. (Theus)
2. a big physical WR (Beckham)
3. a top notch Pro Style QB (Winston and Lambert)
4. an RB, hopefully a big one (Sanders)
5. another big NT, with Chapman leaving and Murphy a potential Medical that leaves Williams and Ivory (James)

We could also use another big TE as well as an H-back. Another OT type would be great since those guys are at a premium. I really hope we get Alexander, but either way I think we're stacked at LB. Also, a premium CB would be nice. I know that Thomas will probably end up at CB, but he's never played that position before and its hard to know how he'll develop.

Out of all these it would hurt the most (emotionally) to lose Kwon. He'll be the best recruit out of Alabama since Julio, and definitely the most sought-after. Losing him to a school like Auburn or FSU would really burn. Let's hope Saban can seal the deal.

I think Winston is ours unless he wants to go the MLB route. I like our chances of landing either Sanders or Marshall or Shell. I wouldn't count on landing Green-Beckham, unless he has said specifically he likes us. I just don't see us landing the most sought-after receiver perhaps since Julio unless we put up big numbers in the passing game this year. IMO he'll want to play for a more pass-heavy offense.

I was thinking the same thing for a little bit about DGB not coming to us due to the pass attack not being as big as other school. I then remember that JJ came to us in the same way with us not proving too much on the passing front but if you watch his highlight reels, he creates YAC and doesn't do a ton of deep threat even though his size is massive. I think CNS can convince him to come to UA with the WR core we have but I don't think we're in his top 3 at this moment. It will have to be some work but he has mentioned UA before

Julio was from Alabama though, and we just got a new coach. Plus Julio is one of the most selfless players to ever come to UA. He's said he's fine primarily being a blocker. I doubt DGB has that same mentality. Plus, he's from Missouri.

1. Jameis Winston- I think he's the one of the most talented recruits in 2012, and we definitely need a QB for this class. He's so dynamic with his running and passing ability. With him being from Alabama, I would hate to miss out on the opportunity. Anyways, I'd much rather lose him to the MLB than to another school.
2. Sanders/Gray/Shell/Marshall- I started to put Sanders here, but then I realized I'd be happy with any of these guys. I think they are all great backs, and they can all fit into our system.
3. Dorial Green-Beckham- DGB seems like the next Julio to me. His physicality coming out of high school rivals that of Julio's and is possibly better at 6'6 220. Honestly, I would have had him at #1, but I'm not sure how much of a shot we have.
4. Nick James- Not much to say here. At 6'5 335, I think he fits our NT position perfectly.
5. Geno Smith- I really don't know that much about him, but from his highlights, it looks like he can be a lock down corner. I would definitely love to have him.

EDIT: You can add Goldman and Kwon to that list.

Bama receivers will always have to do some blocking but I have a feeling Bama is gonna be airing it out a bit more the next few years. CNS wants a balanced attack but, with the speed he is recruiting, I expect more downfield passing from here on. A good WR has a better chance at success on a team that is also able to run the ball effectively. Would love to get that young man in Crimson.

Everything I've seen and read about DGB seems to point to the fact that he doesn't mind blocking at all and he pushes around the DBs quite easily. At that size he better. I agree that JJ living in Bama helped us but he had big passing schools like Oklahoma in his tops yet still went to UA. He could end up being a recruit like Clowney when it comes to distance being the biggest problem for us but it seems like there aren't too many school on his list that are too close to his home town.

There's no need for Kwon to be worried about depth charts. Most high level teams don't start freshman lb's but Saban has shown if you can play you will be on the field. I think Kwon can play. Him and Reggie could be the next great set. I felt like we were robbed of watching the best lb duo in the country when Dante went down in 09. Maybe we get to watch the best trio in the future. We may steal the LB U status.
