Does anyone know if Travis Robinson #24 DB will be able to consider last year as a redshirt year? I know he was hurt in the time frame of the first three games. Since he injured his back and wasn't able to play rest of the year, will he retain that year of elgibility and become a rFR next season? I really hope so because loosing a year from here will be bad. I know numbers in the future will be better, but only playing three games in 2004 four will not be worth the loss of a whole year of elgibility. I really think he has the talent to become a great player in the Tide's secondary in years to come.

Without...

getting into all the arcane NCAA rules, it's 20% of total quarters to be played. I haven't read anything on his situation like I have Croyle's. Over and over and over and over... :D

Actually, it is 20% of games, rounded up to the next whole number. Quarters do not come into play.

It seems he meets the criteria, though I do not know if the medical evidence supports an inability to return at any point in the season. I have not heard anything about an application being submitted to the SEC office though.

Too...

tired to quibble, but you can't examine games without breaking it down - it's not as simple as three games putting you out, on a 13 game schedule (bowls don't count). But I'll look back at the NCAA rules tomorrow...

There is no breakdown:

(c) The injury or illness occurs when the student-athlete has not participated in more than two contests or
dates of competition (whichever is applicable to that sport) or 20 percent (whichever number is
greater) of the institution’s scheduled contests or dates of competition in his or her sport.

14.2.4.3.5.2 Fraction in Percent Computation. Any computation of the percent limitation
that results in a fractional portion of a contest or date of competition shall be rounded to
the next whole number (e.g., 20 percent of the 28-game basketball schedule—5.6 games—
shall be considered six games).
