Trent Richardson, Bo Scarbrough break down Alabama's running backs through two games

"I like what Kevin brought to the stage, man," Richardson said of Riley on The Dynasty podcast this week. "When you got a guy like Kevin coming in with a high energy -- one thing I'll say is he's very patient, too. He's patient to the hole. He's hitting it hard."
Riley has averaged 6.3 yards per carry, including a team-high 31 yards on five rushes in a season-opening loss to Florida State.
"Riley is the guy," Scarbrough said on the Bama Standard podcast. "I see a burst from him that I haven't seen in a long time from Alabama running backs, and I thought he'd get the ball more. But he got that long run and it seemed like they took him out of the game."
Young, a redshirt sophomore, has managed only 45 yards on 15 carries so far this season.
"I think he needs to be a little bit more explosive and be ready when his number is called," Scarbrough said of Young. "Kind of take on that second role. With Jam Miller out, this is his chance to show what he's all about."
Hill, a sophomore, has 23 yards on six carries. Washington, a redshirt senior transfer from Louisiana, has 23 yards on seven carries.
For Richardson, Dear is the future of a room that will lose Miller and Washington to expired eligibility after this season.
"That AK Dear, oh my gosh," Richardson told The Dynasty. "Man, listen -- that kid smooth. He runs hard. He looks like one of those guys who could've played with us. Not saying the other guys don't. But I'm telling you, that kid is going to be something special, man. I'm not trying to hype him up or put too much on his shoulders, but I'll tell you: that kid keep working, the way he runs the ball, he will be probably the next guy we're talking about in a few years that made a big difference in establishing the run game early in his career. We know that we can depend on this guy."
Richardson also wants Alabama to commit more to the run game.
"I just like what the O-line brought to the stage [against ULM] when you talk about getting downhill and running the ball," he said. "Now that we can see that yeah, we can run the ball and we do have the offensive line that can do that, that should never not be in the game plan. Let's get downhill. Let's make this offense as balanced as we can, so we can open up the passing game, so we can free up Ryan [Williams], so we can free up Germie [Bernard], so we can get some of those guys in space in 1-on-1s."
