i've not heard that. in fact, this is completely contrary to all the interviews and quotes where he's said he will wait to make a decision.
Where did you hear he was announcing today? I haven't heard that at all.
Heard it from 2 different people. Have heard since that they were getting it from ITAT which I have checked now and the OP there has changed his statement to say April 13th.

Trevor Lacey Not Quite Interested in Kentucky Now?

Kentucky writer's source says Lacey is down to Bama and Auburn, and leaning toward Bama.

Outstanding news if true.
Can you imagine if we get Lacey - along with all the other studs already on board? Throw in the players (releford, mitchell, green, hankerson, steele) and we've got a really solid team next season. No doubt we could contend with Florida and KY!!

Building a basketball team is one of the most underratedly difficult tasks in all of sports. Improved talent is seen as an essential but coaching talent always presents its own set of problems.

The 1993 North Carolina team won the national championship, lost one player and brought in Rasheed Wallace, Jerry Stackhouse and Jeff McInnes, thought to be Dean Smith's best ever recruiting class. And yet the egos/talents never meshed. It was like two teams instead of one. This year's Duke team is another example.

We are bringing in the best recruiting class in more than a decade. Hopefully, Trevor will be among them. They will make us deeper, faster, bigger and a far greater offensive threat. Whether we'll be better is another matter.

Duke's team this year was like 32-5 and won the ACC. They lost to the PAC-10 champ that was 30-7 in the sweet 16. Not sure they are the best example of a team that didnt mess. I do heed your point about talent alone winning in BBall. Then again, I think most would like to try to go with talent if given the chance. ;)

I'm with you, bud. Bring on the talent and we'll take our chances.

My point with Duke is that I don't think Smith, Singler and Irving ever truly meshed. When he was healthy, Kyrie had taken over the team. When he came back, he and Smith both wanted the ball. Duke still won 32, but they never quite found balance between their stars, two seniors and a true freshman, and never were quite as good as folks expected.

Actually, with Duke I think it was more of the fact that Kyrie was out for such a long time. The NCAA tourney was his first time back. Duke had no chance to work him into the lineup.

Heard today from a guy who works for one of the recruiting services that Lacey is planning on pushing back his announcement. Not that he isn't ready to make a decision, but his school is on Spring Break on his original announcement date and he wants to do it at the school. I haven't heard a firm date but I would guess the week of April 18-22

I saw in the Bham news that he was going to announce on 4/22 at a school function celebrating their state championship but it also said the school was considering moving up the function to 4/13 since Trevor wanted to announce on this day. We shall see.

I really believe he'll end up at Bama.

I don't care what day he announces as long as the announcement ends in a "Roll Tide".
