Re: Donald Trump leads new national poll

It keeps him in the public spotlight. That's why he speaks such vile things. He should be running in the Trump party because that's who he's promoting, certainly not the vast majority of the GOP members I know.

If he takes off in the Perot or Nader direction - and I think he might - he will sink the GOP candidate. Likewise, if Sanders does the same on the Democratic side, it could have the same result. However, I think it's much more likely in the case of Trump...

Re: Donald Trump leads new national poll

This is all about his ego and feeling bigger than everyone else. I don't think it is even a small part about serving the country. I think it is about being the most powerful person in the world. Just go read his press release on his FEC report.

Best line from the release. Says everything you need to know about him in one statement.
This report was not designed for a man of Mr. Trump's massive wealth.

I imagine his apologists will still fawn over him. I think it is pretty disgusting, even for him. How an egotistical billionaire became an idol to so many is beyond me. Perot was a nut, but he at least had some down home, guy next door charm to him. Trump comes across as one of those clueless super rich guys parodied in movies. Thurston Howell III minus the comedic charm of Jim Backus.

Trump probably should used Ben Carson's approach to the "do you think john McCain is a war hero" question, but trump's ego won't allow him to do it. But then again, trump's appeal has always been his mudslinging appeal and not his reform ideas. About 99% of his ideas are unrealistic, which about 95% of every candidate' supposed reforms are unrealistic because the power of the president is nowhere near the perception that most Americans think it is.

Trump is scum and he will completely kill the GOP in the next election. Get ready for President Hillary. We are doomed.
Trump or no trump, hilliary was going to win if she got out of the primaries because the gop was weak from the get go. The only difference is that trump probably gave bush the republican nomination instead of Rubio or Cruz. I'm seriously considering a write in for nick saban because I just can't vote for hilliary or a candidate that is just as weak as Romney.

It's early. If Rick Perry and Herman Cain all had to bow out early because of verbal miscues, Trump might not even make it to debate season. The only reason he might is that he actually runs on verbal miscues. That's pretty much his campaign platform, I think. But, he'll probably end up offending everyone at some point driving his numbers too low to continue. Who knows?
Oh, how I want to see just one debate with the Donald.

I'm hoping you mean for entertainment value only. If so, I agree...

I'm almost willing to bet trump makes next months debate even with this incident because there is almost no way he drops low enough to be out of the top ten. I still see him as top 5 as of next month because a lot of people want to see him go ham on bush, and the fact that pretty much every election since 2000 has been tame and pretty much a forgone conclusion of who is facing who.But after that it's anyone's guess if trump makes it past march in primaries.

Here is the GOP debate schedule if you are interested

You have to agree because everyone loves the Donald. You can't get enough of the Donald because America wants more Donald. He has the solutions for America, and if anyone knows how to manage foreign relations with Iran, the Iraq, and like, such as, it is the Donald.

Believe me , I'm NOT a Trump apologist and maybe I haven't heard the entire Trump statements but the part of his statement that said that McCain is a war hero because he was captured has some truth to it. Had he not been captured, he wouldn't have been the position to act heroically during his imprisonment, which he certainly did. And his follow on statement about those who didn't get captured reminds me a little of Patton saying “No dumb bastard ever won a war by going out and dying for his country. He won it by making some other dumb bastard die for his country.” (I realize that Trump first said McCain was not a war hero (which he was) but he quickly tried to clarify that statement with the modified one about being captured). I dont like Trump, I think he is an egotistical blowhard, but I am just trying to look at what he said in this case somewhat objectively. He definitely has a habit of talking before thinking however and making some bombastic comments.

Personally, I see no reason to "flame" over your comments. I parsed his statements similarly and even thought about other nationally recognized heroes like Audie Murphy and Alvin York in comparison to John McCain. In my opinion, McCain doesn't hold a candle to Murphy and York, among others, as war heroes go.

John McCain: wartime hero, peacetime coward

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog...ero_and_an_even_greater_peacetime_coward.html

Add the Keating 5 scandal and "I'd like to shake the hand of the John McCain that came back from Vietnam, but would rather punch the John McCain of today."
He didn't attack McCain's positions of today. He attacked his war record, while he heroically stayed stateside with a bad foot. (Except he can't remember which one.) No one would have paid any attention if he'd attacked McCain's senate record, but that's not what he did...
