Trump's Policies Part 4

For those keeping score at home:
1) Biden wasn't even President, he was a propped up puppet but he now has the power to sink the economy without even knowing he did it
2) Trump can't keep Democrats from stealing elections when he's in the White House, which ought to make anyone who thinks he's some sort of king of security rethink that notion

I find President Trump's lack of interest in cybersecurity quite odd. Orders to stand down against our major enemies and the firing of General Haugh and gutting the agencies that protect the US with so many Russian, North Korean, and Chinese hackers probing our defenses could lead to bad outcomes down the road.

Now he wants to change Veterans Day to Victory in World War I Day and make May 8 Victory in World War II Day.

Veterans Day was once Armistice Day to celebrate the end of WWI but was expanded to honor all veterans in 1954.

May 8 was when Germany surrendered but the war didn’t really end until Japan gave up in September.

This is a dumb idea. Not sure why we need to stop having a day to honor all vets and change it to a war most people don’t really know much about and whose participants are all dead.

The other major war we were in was the Civil War. Why not have a Victory in the Civil War Day? But his base might not like that.

Here’s his post about it:

A president should not be allowed to wipe away a bill passed by congress with an EO. The hate they have for people is disgusting.
Here’s his post about it:

He's a moron. Veterans Day honors all wars, why do we have to single out these 2. Plus, his post is nothing but insulting to all our allies, who lost far more in the wars then we did. A freaking moron.

And now is when you pounce if you are the Democrats. It is budget cuts except in defense where he wants an increase of 13%.

In a letter to Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Susan Collins (R-Maine), Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russell Vought announced the president’s budget would reduce base nondefense discretionary budget authority by 22.6 percent, cutting spending levels by $163 billion.

That would include a roughly $18 billion reduction for the National Institutes of Health compared to fiscal 2025 levels.

The request says the Department of Energy would see a reduction of more than $15 billion from what it described as the “cancellation” of former President Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

The budget also proposes a nearly $25 billion reduction for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, with State Rental Assistance Block Grants on the chopping block. It instead calls for the transformation of the rental assistance programs into a “state-based formula grant which would allow states to design their own rental assistance programs based on their unique needs and preferences.”

On the defense side, the administration proposes to increase funding by 13 percent, bringing the total to just more than $1 trillion.

OK, now they're looking to grant control of the judiciary's administrative functions to the President.

The case ostensibly proceeds as a FOIA lawsuit, with the Trump-aligned group seeking access to judiciary records. But, in doing so, it asks the courts to cede massive power to the White House: the bodies that make court policy and manage the judiciary’s day-to-day operations should be considered independent agencies of the executive branch, the suit argues, giving the President, under the conservative legal movement’s theories, the power to appoint and dismiss people in key roles.

Here's the actual complaint:

It's worth reading, if for no other reason, because the justification claimed for this action is the baseless persecution of Alito and Thomas.

On a trip to Berlin, I was texting a friend: "I have just landed in Berlin. I'm looking for someone to sign a surrender document."
He responded, "Make sure you wait until the Russians are there or they will have their own surrender ceremony the next day."
