But we couldnt activate the DC Guard on J6 to protect the Capitol and our legislators?

And just remember....the Boot Lickers will come up with convoluted logic to justify this, too.

Live updates: Trump DC crime crackdown | CNN Politics

President Donald Trump is expected to announce the activation of hundreds of DC National Guard troops this morning as part of his effort to address crime in the nation’s capital, two US officials told CNN.

The DC National Guard forces are expected to be providing safety and security support to law enforcement, though one of the officials said many of the operational specifics still remain unclear, such as where they will be placed throughout the city, what their command-and-control chain will be, and for how long they will be activated.

Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are expected to be at the announcement with Trump.

The official said up to roughly 800 troops in the DC National Guard are expected to be activated. Among the subordinate units of the DC Guard is a military police battalion, complete with maintenance and medical support, and an aviation support battalion.

While National Guard units around the country report to their state’s governors, the DC National Guard falls under the authority of the president, which is typically delegated to the secretary of the Army.

White House announces more aggressive review of Smithsonian museums
In a letter, White House officials said they would review the Smithsonian’s exhibition text, curation, exhibition planning and collections, starting with eight museums.

The White House will launch a sweeping review of Smithsonian exhibitions, collections and operations ahead of America’s 250th-birthday celebrations next year — the first time the Trump administration has detailed steps to scrutinize the institution, which officials say should reflect the president’s call to restore “truth and sanity” to American history.
I'm guessing that when the dust settles, Trump will have been the first person to set foot on the moon, will have accepted the Japanese surrender in WWI, and will have been the only signer of the Declaration of Independence.

I think what's so funny is they blame this on Nancy Pelosi.

Really?

Settig aside the fact Pelosi had no say, when is the last time Donald Trump took the advice of a woman?

Crickets on the CDC shooter???? This dude obviously needs to take off the Democrat goggles. I have seen non-stop coverage of this since it happened. Unfortunately, for the loser that decided to exit this world like a coward, he was upstaged by the next loser who decided to shoot up a Target parking lot.
You missed the point. By crickets, they are not referring to media coverage, but the lack of calls for sweeping changes to curb violence in the wake of the attack. It's just more of the same thoughts and prayers BS. Nothing can be done, says the only country where this routinely happens.

Seems like your goggles conveniently avoided the J6 part of the comment.

Watch out, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the National Museum of the American Indian will be forced to remove all mentions of white people doing bad things.

Everything mentioned in Project 2025 is unfolding as planned. You know, that document that Trump claimed to not "know about" during the campaign, but sure is following since taking office.

The manipulation / falsification of crime statistics is 100% happening in Memphis where the Mayor and police chief have repeatedly tried to tell people crime is down, while anyone who ever leaves their home can see how it's obviously increased in recent years.

When one party has a stranglehold over a city these kinds of things can happen. Don't like the stats? Just make up your own. Who's going to call you out?

I don't for one second doubt this.

Just last week they were boasting here in Chicago about how shootings had gone down since they removed the Shot Spotter cameras on the South Side.

That being said - I cannot endorse Trump's seizing of the Guard, either (not that I'm implying you endorse such just to be clear).

Appeals court allows Trump administration to resume foreign aid cuts.

A federal appeals court voted 2-1 on Wednesday to lift an order requiring the Trump administration to resume billions of dollars in foreign aid payments.

The divided U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit panel found a lower judge erred when he restored the flow of funds in March.

Two groups of grant recipients sued over allegations the cancellations infringe on the separation of powers since Congress had appropriated the money, but the panel ruled they can’t bring such a claim.

It is not clear if the U.S. economy is at a crossroads, and as my time as a BLS staff member taught me, data for one or even two months do not a trend make. It would take several months of data to provide definitive evidence either toward or away from that conclusion. However, in my view, after 33 years of federal service at the BLS, one fact does emerge as unshakeable: the numbers provided by BLS are of high quality and without a trace of political influence.

Could that high quality be improved? Of course, the BLS and all of the statistical agencies have a proud tradition of introducing innovations to their data collection, modeling, and estimation processes. For example, the Current Employment Survey uses electronic data collection that allows large firms with multiple locations to embed automated reporting from their own data systems and allows faster and more accurate reporting of potentially thousands of worksites. At the same time, the statistical agencies have been suffering from declining real budgets for years, which has slowed the ability of agencies to continue introducing innovations to their data collection and other operations.

But most importantly, instead of focusing on politically motivated accusations of data manipulation, now is the time to take a careful look at the direction of the U.S. economy, of our economic policies, and their potential impacts on all of us. For that, we really need credible economic statistics, which only politically independent agencies can produce.
