I personally hope he leaves just so Barn can go through the damn turmoil of hunting a coach, a really good coach. There seems to be lots of openings coming up this year, so Barn getting the cream of the crop aint likely. As far as Tubs beating Bama 5 or possiby 6 years in a row, Tubs didn't do it, Bama did it by cheating, the NCAA helped. Any coach that would have put on that orange and blue would have won 5 against us since 02. So I hope he leaves and takes that arrogance with him, and let the barn squirm and get just a small taste of what we've been through.
They are squirming now half would like to see him leave. Tubby has lost at least four games six of his nine seasons. He is a good coach but not great. We need him to stay not only to repay him for his arrogance but i for one dont want to see a better coach and recruiter come in and take it up a notch. The longer he stays the better off we are regardless of what his record is against us is. They all know the reasons for the five!

From the Aggie boards ( I just had to go look this morning :)) here is what they are saying.

Stoops to Michigan
Miles to OU
Spurrier to A&M
Fran to SMU
Urban Meyer to LSU
Pete Carroll to Florida
Tedford to USC
Dennis Erickson to Cal

thats what I heard, fwiw

Or is it................

Stoops to Michigan
Miles to OU
Urban Meyer to LSU
Pete Carroll to Florida
Tedford to USC
Dennis Erickson to Cal
Leach to ASU
Carr to Tceh

Both lists pretty funny. At least the Aggies still have a sense of humor, having Fran around will do that to you. :)

tubby will always be on a short leash at the barn...I'm telling you he is three straight losses to Bama from being gone...he will always be three losses away from being gone...I was hoping we would put the first one on him Saturday but my hopes have been dashed for this year...but if Bama somehow wins this game Saturday, I would not be surprised to see tubby leave the barn...he knows how thin the ice is under his feet - he knows, believe me he knows...

Tubby learned from Saban's searing experience last year as well as his own pine box comment.

I didn't see anything about staying at Auburn come hell or high water. I saw classic coachspeak, a round about way of, "I'm keeping my options open."

As long as they want me here.....sounds like it could be seen either as a challenge to the higher ups or a political tool.

I don't think Tubbs will come to Aggieland. He was only here for one year. My take is he a Florida guy. He has no record here in recruiting.

If we take another Alabama coach, the "curse" should continue!

I don't think Tubs will go to aTm either. It's not because of money either but I believe aTm has wised up a little and is looking elsewhere.

It's simple. If the new coach does not understand the recruiting landscape in Texas, he's useless! He's got to recruit on the same level with Stoops at Oklahoma and Brown at Texas.

I don't remember the last time aTm has recruited an impact player out of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The Houston area was once a recruiting stronghold for aTm. Now it's not.

I don't think Tuberville will be able to connect with these high school coaches.

Briles, the HC at U. of Houston, has an excellent resume, but he's too old. Spurrier is being talied about, but he's too old. I think Bob Davie would be great. He's a fantastic recruiter. He was here for 6-8 years. His defenses were top notch. However, he's too old.

Some people like Rodriquez at West Va. These East Coast guys are not going to come here. Nobody is coming here from the West Coast either. I think aTm has gotten themselves in a real pickle. It's amusing to watch.

Whoever the Aggies get, I hope he does not come with a personal publicist! What's the take on this personal publicist from the Alabama standpoint? It makes me real angry! His publicist followed him from TCU to Bama and to aTm.

The publicist responded to all of the AD's and Fran's e-mails. I know that to be a fact, because I got into an e-mail war with the little BLANK back in 2004.

I don't know to much about the Fran era at Bama I spent most of that time in the desert but I really (other than the fact that I dislike him) don't know how he did so bad at ATM. He seems like he was a pretty good fit with his offense. I like ATM because of thier military ties and hope they do well but I have no idea who is out there to do it. I don't see Ears as a good fit he seems better on the east coast to me, I think they should try to find a Tressel, stoops like diamond but thats just me.

I think Ears is gone at the Barn, those guys treated him like dirt. I could care lees either way though.

It occurred to me that, since he's been at Auburn, he's had a pretty good record but that he's never been seriously mentioned as a head coaching candidate in any of the major searches that have occurred the last several years.

Until now, that is.

If Tubs is really a great coach, why has his name not been associated with recent openings at programs like Notre Dame, Miami and Florida?

Maybe he's not as good as all the ink says he is. Maybe he's just been lucky; at the right place at the right time; the proverbial blind squirrel.

Former Coach? :p_eyes: :p_cool:
No but it is someone in the AD. Some of the Tubs supporters are starting to turn because hes waving flags. IF he gets an offer from someone like AM or Neb more than likely hes gone. Anyone that thinks everything is roses after Jetgate and the treatment of some of the BOT's are blind to the situation.
As of now its still up in the air. He rubs their nose in it if he leaves and he rubs their nose in it if he stays either way Tubs comes out a winner.

Tubbs was suppose to get the job at Arkansas but one vote blocked it and then entered a Nutt who got the job. :BigA:

Tubby will consider the Arky job before the aTm job. :biga2:

I have posted before that I have a relative who played at aTm 30+ yeats ago and I know a major figure inside aTm who advised Fran had a handshake agreement with aTm 2 months before the rumors even started in 2002. I have spoke to them again this week and they advised Tubby is still target # 1 and his people are advising he will accept if/when offered. (Probably the week after the SEC Title game)

On an interesting side note I spoke recently to Frank Broyles Son and he advised while Tubby would be looked at by Arkansas, he is not one of the top 2choices at this time. (I asked who was and all I got was "do you really think i'll tell?" If I had to guess I would say Butch Davis #1, Ritch Rodriguez #2 (With that said I see neither taking the job)

It would not surprise me one bit if Tubby does moves on. Both sides would like to have the last laugh and if Tubs pulls it off id give him the nod.

Have no clue on Arkansas but i would think Davis and Rodriguez are out also.
