BearFoot is correct. I expect Miss St to do about the same.
I had hoped the SEC Office would jump in and institute penalties to MSU, but I think that ship has sailed.

The whole thing was a black eye on all of college football and reminded me something you would see on Last Chance U.
That was exactly what I was thinking while watching it, "Last Chance U material going on here."

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
People who play and coach football don't get too worked up over stuff like this. It's somewhat the nature of the game. Leach's post game remarks came across that he was more worried about whether the Denny's was going to be open on the way home than a fight breaking out on a football field. LOL!

I get the PR side of it, especially in today's cultural climate. But it takes a certain level of nastiness to play football, especially at the level these guys do. So brush ups like these are bound to happen. I'm actually surprised they don't happen more.

If this were a typical push/pull thing with a few stupid punches thrown then I would agree. But this one got really ugly - beyond the typical football skirmish.

The game was over and guys were literally trying to hurt the other players. People ought to know by now that I'm pretty old-school but this was inexcusable, and if Leach is okay with it, then I've lost a lot of respect for him.

the mississippi state player who kicked the guy and then took off running should be kicked off the team just on general principle. that was low rent even for miss state

Here is the only saving grace for Leach. I am not sure what he knew at what point. While one of his players was kicking an opposing player in the face, Leach was in the stands getting a photo with a fan. Even the post-game press conference, I do not know how much of the tape he had seen, so I'm going to give him a little slack on his responses right after the fact. Herbie was giving him the business right after the events, but I do not believe Leach saw what Herbie saw.
Now, once he saw the entire tape, then I would want to ask him what he thought and what he did with the worst perps on his team (but Leach would probably say it would be handled internally).

He said it was dumb six times in twenty seconds in the postgame. I assume he’d seen the tape of the rhubarb by then.

Maybe. Alternatively, it could well be that one of the coaches who saw everything told him that it was just dumb testosterone-fueled rivalry getting out of hand. That could explain the "it was dumb," comment without him actually having seen the video yet.

Personally, I think that the immediate action drill to a post-game (or pregame) brawl breaking out ought to be getting away from the other team, and if a teammate is down, grabbing him by the shoulder pads and dragging him away from the other team. I have very little sympathy for that kind of crapola. If a young man cannot control himself better than that, football is not for him.

Having said all that, I do not think Leach is going to be "disciplinarian of the year" in his response either.
