After a team loses 69-3 two things can happen. Either the team gets angry and tries to prove something in the next game or the team is totally demoralized and loses to someone they should beat. The latter is obviously what happened to OSU. A long tough season ahead for Gundy and the Pokes.

It would take $15 million to buyout Gundy prior to 2027. In 2028, his buyout drops to $10 million. He currently makes $6.875 million.

Considering the top coaches in college football make $10 million or more a year and have ridiculous buyouts of $50 million or more, Gundy is hanging on by a thread, if that thread wasn’t already cut last with the loss to Tulsa.

I can't imagine Gundy survives this loss at home to Tulsa. They out-manned, out-coached, out-played, out-schemed, out-hustled, out-outed OSU in every facet. OSU's deep oil pockets have $15 million in their in-home safe. If they really have the money, and lots of it, fire Gundy and make Dabo an offer he can't refuse :D

I've been wondering about okie lite's financial backing.

Obviously, that wasn't an issue when Pickens was alive. But their recruiting and on-field performance has taken a nosedive since his death. So I wonder whether Pickens' heirs just aren't as generous as Pickens himself was. Or maybe other donors haven't stepped up. Or maybe defenses (even in the Big 12) have caught up with basketball on grass and Gundy's not able to adapt.

Regardless of the reason, the $15M buyout isn't much in today's world of college football. And losing to Tulsa at home, when you're a 10 point (+/-) favorite, and now being 1-2 is a problem.

Compounding the 1-2 record is the way they've looked. Beating an 0-3 UT Martin team by only 20. Keep in mind that UTM's other losses are to UTEP and Southern Illinois. Then getting absolutely annihilated by Oregon 69-3. Following that up with last night's loss -- in which they were fortunate just to have a chance at the end. That's a problem for both Gundy and okie lite.

I'm not sure Gundy survives. But then comes the question of who would represent an upgrade and would realistically come? Take a look down the Top 25, and you'll see that it's not an easy question for any school. There are several coaches who would represent an upgrade. But most of them aren't going anywhere, let alone Stillwater.

I think there are a bunch of coaches, probably ADs and boosters too, just going through the motions now. That's how broken CF is at the moment...

Lately I have noticed, all at once, teams seem to suddenly disintegrate. UCLA, Virginia Tech, Okla St.

I believe Pickens estate was valued between 500 million and 1 billion when he died. It had been valued at over 3 billion at one point. He gifted over 1 billion to OSU to be divided equally among athletic and academics over his life, along with millions also gifted to MD Anderson and others

I believe when Pickens died what was left was placed in a trust. I don’t know if his heirs are trustees and making the decisions of not. How what remained of his wealth and how it is distributed since his death in 2019 is rather “tight lipped”.
