Turnovers...the forgotten reason why Richardson should be DOMINATING the Heisman Race

I cant remember the last time that Richardson fumbled. He certainly hasn't done it this year. Meanwhile, Andrew Luck was a turnover machine during Stanford's two big games.

There was a play against MSU where it was so impressive that he did not fumble...the announcers commented about how hard it is to get Richardson to give the ball up.

It is frustrating that no "talking heads" ever mention that when they are talking about where everyone should be ranked in the Heisman race right now. Even the new "hot" Heisman candidate Weeden had 3 INTs versus La Tech and 2 against Tulsa.

Yeah, we have been really lucky the last 3 seasons with Ingram and Richardson carrying the ball. Neither fumbled. Pretty amazing considering the defenses that they have faced.

Way to jinx us.......
I actually thought about that. But I am pretty confident about Richardson's ability to not fumble...there is no luck involved (no pun intended).

And also it was important to post this thread just in case there are sports media lurking on this page...as they often do. ;)

Meh. Law of averages/statistics or whatever you call it. Bound to happen sooner or later. Then again, we've never beaten a FBS team.... :)

Yeah, was just thinking that. Right before the UTe game in 09 (still a lurker at that point), someone asked if he had ever lost a fumble. Well, he did that game, and darn near cost us the game.
I think he ended up being completely run off of the board. Hopefully if anything he just changed his name and is still amongst us. But he took some serious ribbing for a while.

Richardson fumbled during the LSU game but luckily it went out of bounds. But for him to get the touches he has and NOT fumble is amazing. I just fail to understand how he is NOT the front runner right now.

When you factor in he plays in the SEC, our defenses stack the box all game against him (including LSU), and yet he still piles on yards and gets dissed every week for "the golden picks" with luck/weeden you turned the ball over more last week than Richardson has in his career. It all goes to who the "hot face" is in college sports IMHO. It's a popularity contest. Stanford can lose to Oregon even without Luck, Okie State could be where they are without Weeden, but I doubt Bama would be 9-1 without Trent right now. We'd still be good no doubt and one of the best, but there is not one back in college football I'd take over Trent. I don't believe there is a defense that can shut him down. Granted he didn't score vs. LSU but still put up 89 rushing and 80 receiving.
