OK, guys, back to Twitter vs. Threads. There's plenty of material there without political philosophizing...
I haven’t downloaded threads, but read a few reviews and they weren’t pleasant. Also saw a post talking about the terms of service and they said you couldn’t delete your thread account without also deleting your Instagram. Gave me pause when thinking about downloading threads. I’m going to see if I can find any real info about this.

I think there are fair criticisms of Threads. Content moderation in comparison to Twitter is not one of them.

Striking while the iron is hot. Twitter is a bit of a mess with their "rate limiting" and such.
Again, everyone, this thread is not about economic systems - that was a hijack by the OSU fan. It is about the competition between Twitter and Threads...
I just wish people would wait for a Twitter competitor not owned by Meta. Leaving Musk for Zuck does not really solve anything, they are 2 sides of the same coin. People whine and complain about FB and its moderation or lack thereof, depending on the side of the fence you are on, it's going to be the same on Threads.
Oh well, I deleted my Twitter account last year and have no intention of signing up for Threads.

The problem is always going to be inertia. Twitter is hard to abandon because its user base is baked in and people are unwilling to "start fresh," as it were.
In that sense, Meta is better suited to offer replacement than any small startup.
Twitter for me is just great for a few things.
1. Sports news. It's definitely the best place for rapid fire sports coverage and interactions during games
2. Interactions with journalists and others you normally don't have access to
3. Things like my sister was stuck on an amtrak train the other day for hours and I could easily find out if others were experiencing the same thing live and quickly
