Two-plus years later, Cottrell trial appears set

Though nothing is official yet, all indications are that the jury trial in the $40 million lawsuit filed by former University of Alabama football coaches Ronnie Cottrell and Ivy Williams against the National Collegiate Athletic Association and others will begin July 11.

If so, the high-profile trial will take place 32 months after the lawsuit was initially filed in December 2002.

To me, it doesn't seem like it has been that long ago.

I really hate this situation for RC. I firmly believe that he is a good man. I heard him speak at my church and his brother lives in my home town. I really think that there is more going on here than most of us know about and I'm sure that the NCAA will settle out of court for an undisclosed sum of money.

Let us hope justice is served and another huge step in settling this mess is taken.
