BREAKING Ty Declaring for NFL Draft

Agreed...he is a Mac type QB..very accurate given time or timed routes etc...not a starter right away but QB2 on a team that he can grow into the system etc. So many QBs fail straight out of college because they are put into unwinnable situations
Honestly, I would rather be QB3 in the draft than QB1 or QB2. At QB3, he stands a chance of going someplace where he can learn more from a more experienced starting QB.

He has said he's interested in coaching. In fact, he said he hopes to be the HC at Bama someday. So it will interesting to see how long he stays in the NFL and what path he takes to follow his coaching aspirations.

Well if he does become a coach I'll bet he will have learned one valuable lesson. To have the best OL line money can buy for his QB.

Ty was a stand up guy, and I give him just about the same grade as I give his predecessor. Both contributed to the team, contributed to wins. Got the team to rally around them. They each performed a service to Bama, and were at times a force to be reckoned with.

Mostly, always giving credit to our Creator for the successes.

My feelings are a bit bittersweet. It's hard not to like Ty, the guy left everything on the field. Yet at the same time there was something about him that kept me from really warming up to him. Furthermore, I could never decide how much of his "bad*" play was him or the o-line or Grubb. Regardless, thanks Ty for coming back and this past season.

Having said that, the Keelon Russell Era begins now. I'm not even sure Grubb can hold him back.

*And let me be clear, his bad play was very little.

You know this has to be a contributing factor into his decision. He had three options:

1. Stay at Alabama and play another year
2. Transfer out and play another year
3. Declare for the draft.

If I was in his shoes, I'd be hesitant to stay if I didn't see massive improvement in the OL (and he probably doesn't have any reason to expect to.) I would love Alabama too much; the idea of playing for anyone else is unthinkable. So yeah, option 3 was his best bet, particularly in light of the fact that he is still grading out as a first-round player.

Didn’t see this posted yet but in this day age of instant gratification and the portal, how can you not love the way Ty did things. True class act that was Bama through and through.

the video alone is why I never thought he would transfer anywhere else. the young man bleeds Crimson!!!

Maybe. But Austin Mack is who replaced Ty when he got hurt against Indy. Mack is next, unless that changes by September. Or they bring in a hotshot through the portal.

I wish him all the best. QBs who have done far less than him have been drafted in the 1st round. He's earned it. He just needs to land with the right team in the right circumstances, but guess what? So does every other QB. There is a degree of doing the work, but then there is the luck of it all that you can't control. As someone else said, being the 3rd QB off the board will serve him well.
