BREAKING Ty Declaring for NFL Draft

It's good the Rams brought in Ty at a good time, with 38 year old Matthew Stafford who can help Ty prepare until his retirement. But he may keep playing another 5 or 6 years.
Here's a list of NFL Quarterbacks to play past 40 years of age.
Tom Brady - 45 at retirement
Matt Hasselbeck - 40
Brett Favre - 41
Brad Johnson - 40
Vinny Testaverde - 44
Doug Flutie - 43 (Pro Football)
Warren Moon - 44
Steve DeBerg - 44
Vince Evans - 40

Others past 40:
Len Dawson
Earl Morrall
Sonny Jurgenson
Johnny Unitas
Zeke Bratkowsky
Charlie Conerly
George Blanda was 48, but was a place kicker several years before retirement.

This probably will not change any minds of the people who were criticizing the pick but this honestly was exactly what I thought the ‘muted’ reaction was about.

He just didn’t want to come as across as overly giddy about Stafford’s potential replacement and have him get upset and looking over his shoulder during his final year or two while they are set up for SB contention.

You also don’t want Stafford to take it wrong and give Ty the cold shoulder and not help mentor him from spite.

So the reaction on Draft night probably felt like a balancing act.

I don’t know why people are reading too much into it. After the craziness that happened with GB and Pittsburgh after adding a first round quarterback with an established HOF starter you really don’t want to send the wrong message in the locker room. I think the Rams and McVay played it well, and I’m not typically a fan of McVay personally saying this.
