Love will announce on Sunday. I'm not sure if we can expect "dominos" to fall as a result, but we COULD (potentially) have a slew before Sept. 1

RTO - What time Sunday? Is his announcement going to be in a press conference environment where we would be able to watch or hear it?

No way IMO. I agree with earlier opinions - commiting early is a great sign he's coming to Bama. And I'm 1 for 1 in my prognostications. I predicted Saban to Bama. :biggrin:

I think I should add that I don't think T Love is critical to this recruiting class in the same way that A SMith was two years ago, but I do think he has made friendships with many recruits that we are highly recruiting. But I do not think his commitment somewhere else, shuts us out for those recruits that he has relationships with from still coming to the University of Alabama

For the very reason you mention later in your first sentence, I believe he is as critical. If we pull him, and I ultimately think we will, I believe we'll also automatically land Barrett... and have the inside track on Green. Using a 5* player to land a couple of 4 *'s is big in my estimation. Though Smith was a critical pickup a couple of years ago, the fact that he did it on NSD didn't give us a lot of momentum... but it did send a big message for 07 recruiting. I think we get more if Love commits... momentum for this class and a few players.

First post here and I'm just curious, what is the connection between Love and Harris? This is the first I've heard of Harris possibly following Love to UA. Besides that, I believe that the early announcement is a very good sign that Love will be wearing crimson. I'm glad to be a member of Tidefans and Roll Tide!

I love the fact that Love is announcing early. I remember earlier this year CNS asked him to go ahead and commit to Alabama. In my opinion it means that Love has taken a serious look at the other schools that he is interested in and now it is time to commit to Alabama. I agree with the logic expressed earlier in this thread if he were going to any other school he most likely would wait and announce right before NSD or on NSD. I also agree that if Love commits to Bama that it will bring in Barrett Jones and possibly Jerrell Harris.

May be wrong... memory sometimes betrays me... but I want to remember that early in the recruiting process, Love had developed a good relationship w/ him. If that's not the case, whoever mentioned him might have been thinking about Green... both are highly regarded LB's.

Consider the increased interest of other OL recruits in Bama, like Joe Looney (who could commit with Star) and Dallas Thomas. This is one way to get top-shelf recruits to go ahead and commit...make them think they will lose their spot.

Granted, Saban would find a way to bring Love aboard regardless...

Anyway, I think Love is Bama bound. RT

Personally I don't think something like that has much of an affect on the elite recruits, they pretty much know they can go wherever they want and have a spot and Tyler is certainly in that category. I think it's more for the other guys, the ones who aren't quite considered in the elite status.

I have heard of the Love/Green and McClain/Harris connections, but Love/Harris was a first. Thanks for clarifying. I'm really hoping that Green and Love are a "combo" deal like you said.

Granted 5-star athletes don't tend to shy away from competition but I hope TL is thinking "early playing time" and notices just how crowded the OL department is over at Georgia. They had 8 O-Line commits in last year's class and 5 in their '06 class.

Right, I was just making sure that I haven't missed something. Hopefully they will stay in contact and become good friends, so IF Love commits he can sway Harris to UA. Then that could possibly factor into McClain's recruitment and so on. There really seems to be a lot entangled in Love's decision, for UA anyway. I think we are looking at a very special class this year.

This is just one entanglement in our recruiting. Not to mention, the Mobile recruits we already have Matchett, Preyear and the fact that they are trying to get Barron, Hood, Jones and a few others that are still out there in Mobile that we want. Then you have the straight up studs that we are still in the mix for: A. Brown, TJ Bryant, Robby Green. I mean this thing ends up like 6 top 50 recruits. Sure i'm wishful thinking, but that's how momentum works. People realize something special is happening and want to be apart.

This is a rare time when I wish I was one of those supremely confident homers I see from other fanbases when one of their top recruits decides it's time. I think he picks us, but it'd be nice to have more than a gut to go on.
