Andrew Meyer, the University of Florida student who was Tasered by campus police in September, may have staged the disturbance in an effort to disrupt the political forum at the Gainesville campus, a state police report concludes.

The report from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, released Wednesday by the university, cleared UF police of wrongdoing in subduing Meyer, 21. Meyer, of Weston, was subdued with a Taser after he resisted arrest during a speech by 2004 Democratic presidential candidate U.S. Sen. John Kerry on Sept. 17.

Meyer, whose cry of ''Don't Tase me Bro'!'' made him a cause célèbre on the Internet, declined to comment Wednesday. He has been charged with disrupting a public event and resisting arrest. The state attorney's office has not yet decided whether to prosecute.

Thank goodness. Their actions seemed very reasonable when dealing with an irrational, attention-seeking kid.

I wish one politician would answer one hard question, but he jumped up there and got to speak, he just should have taken the opportunity to shut up and leave.

"Don't tase me bro!", was just too funny. Kids, what will they think of next?

Did anyone have any doubt this would be the end result?

Doesn't make it right and proper, but it was inevitable.

What about the UCLA incident? That was much more vicious than the incident in Florida.

When a police officer says, "It's time to go," the correct response is "Yes, officer," followed by immediate compliance. If the officer was wrong to force you to leave, you take it up with the ombudsman or his supervisor later. If you don't get satisfaction, bring a suit, if you think you have one.
The wrong answer is to resist arrest.

heh, no harm no foul, I guess. I do like this quote by the kid:

"I made the decision to supersede the rules, and for that I apologize," Meyer wrote. "I should have acted calmer and obeyed the directives of the officers. If I had, none of the subsequent issues would ever have arisen."
