I just wish the guy wasn't on our staff. Why bring someone like this in? He shouldn't be around any recruit . Give him a desk job.

So how would you explain the discrepancy between the headline and the contradictive text in the article. It appears that he found someone from a dirty program that moved on to UA, and slandered them.
NCAA does not name names. They give the titles the person held. SO the NCAA named the former recruiting coordinator but did not give his name. Not one person from the staff is named. Only their positions. I really don't see where Don did anything wrong. If the former recruiting coordinator did something wrong. And the guy is the former recruiting coordinator.... where exactly did he "stretch" the truth?

....and isn't the new publisher of the Birmingham News and this guy's boss a professed, diehard barn fan? Hmmm...
I don't think he really "dug" anything up. It's been the talk du jour on sports talk radio everyday this week. Some barn idiot named "The Realist" has been bringing it up everyday and put it in his blog.

Don't know why people are throwing around the term "slander." If it's true it's not slander.

Well to be legally, technically correct, it's still slander (libel if printed or visual), but truth is a complete defense, which can be asserted by the defendant...

I would think UA will have this kid on a choke collar. I can't see him really messing up here because I believe all of his correspondence is being read my our compliance folks and he will be shown the door if he messes up, no 3 strikes and you are out, 1 and done.

I saw UFC and I was wondering why we had a guy from the Ultimate Fighting Championships to a position with the football team. Now I see that it was supposed to be UCF.

Sounds like they do....
"When Alabama learned that the case at UCF involved a major infraction in football, Alabama’s director of athletics temporarily placed Marynowitz under the direct supervision of the Intercollegiate Athletics Compliance Office (IACO) while a review was conducted."
"The IACO meets with Marynowitz individually on a weekly basis to discuss developments in football recruiting. The IACO will continue to monitor 100 percent of (his) telephone calls..."

JMHO...But...If you're going after Kausler for exposing this for the general populace to see in the MSM, you're shooting the messenger, IMO, on this issue. I took this as hard news and not an op/ed piece--even though he is now probably taking his marching orders from a publisher that is a professed, diehard Auburn fan, as I mentioned in my previous post on this thread.

At the same time, I think we have no reason but to trust that Coach Saban knows all the facts, when none of us do, when it comes to how and why we chose to employ this individual in such a sensitive position. For that reason, I really don't think there is any need for alarm on this. But...I think it's ALSO easy to understand why some fans had a knee jerk reaction to it. Let's face it by taking a long, hard look in the mirror as a program for a minute--we need to keep our nose as clean as the wind-driven snow(expecially with textbook-gate barely in our rear view mirror) and most r/f Bama fans, I think, don't even want the PERCEPTION or to arouse suspicion out there that we have someone on staff and/or in the AD that is dirty when it comes to recruiting.
