The Crimson Tide line up with a tailback, fullback, tight end and two receivers and play off their power running game.

"That plays right into everything we want to do," UK defensive end Jeremy Jarmon said. "We don't really like playing the teams that air it out and go with five wide receivers. They're going to come out and try and hit us in the mouth, and that's the kind of football we like."

Alabama's offense will allow UK to use its 4-3 alignment more than in the past few weeks, when the Cats spent a good portion of the game lined up in the nickel package (five defensive backs). That suits outside linebacker Johnny Williams just fine, as Williams often has to either come out of the game or move up to defensive end in the nickel.

"This will be more of a linebacker's game," Williams said. "They're going to line up and try and run it right at us, and we have to be ready to step in there and make plays. We're looking forward to it."

LOL - like they have a choice? Embrace the Darkness

Their defense wasn't very good last year, and they have almost everyone back. Somehow we are supposed to believe that they have a great defense now with those same players; that they improved that much. I don't buy it...

I personally think that the Tide O will have a field day running the ball against UK's D. I know that UK leads the SEC in scoring D, but they haven't exactly played powerhouse offense teams. The first drive Bama makes should show us all we need to know about UK's run stopping ability. I would like to see several 7-8 minute drives, mostly on the ground to just wear out UK's front 7.

This is what they can expect to "embrace".

Backs left, backs right, backs up the middle. They see him coming, they "embrace" him, they get ran over, they get un-embraced, they watch him disappear toward the endzone.

That bunch does not have a clue what they are up against...

I think the Cats have a clue but I believe they are buying into the hope they can pull off the upset like they did to LSU. They may come in confident but I doubt they will come in cocky. One of the differences is its a home game for us not them.

A few "pancakes" and they don't need to worry about the BAMA "O" challange..... "Embrace" T. Code and the BAMA "D" and then we'll talk!! LOL!!

I agree, and every comment that I have read from their players demonstrates self-confidence, but also respect for Bama. What neither they nor we know yet is exactly how good they are. They are "untested".

But, if you want to believe some of the writers out there, so are we...:biggrin::biggrin:

If Bama comes out and plays their game, UK doesn't have a prayer.

i expect uk to sell out, and try to stop the running game the first series. probably 8 in the box. they really have to. make jpw make the plays early, and see what happens. they need to cast some doubt early. must stop the run.

Eight in the box plus 3 JPW screens = 7 on the scoreboard and 7 in the box; which = ICU time (Ingram, Coffee, Upchurch), followed by the pulling of the plug.

Welcome back to the SEC UK. RTR:BigA:

UK is 4-0 (yes, I know who they've played). We haven't beaten them yet. They have the best scoring D in the SEC, yet we are just going to run all over them? How about we discuss how we might best manage this game, and their D, and forgo the talk of stomping them.

I agree. If we stomp them, I'll be surprised.

IMO, they do not have the best scoring D in the SEC. They have to play at least one SEC team for me to give them that. IMO, by the end of the season, their D will be well back in the pack in the SEC.

They gave up 385 points with these same players and coaches on defense last year. Against SEC teams, they gave up an average of 35 ppg. Now maybe they really improved with another year together, but I remain unconvinced. They can change that on Saturday, but I will have to see it to believe it...

Haha, I love it, I hope that's what happens, and I believe there is a good chance that it will. We've yet to play a team this year that we couldn't run against, except for Tulane, but we didn't run much against them.

They have this killer defense thanks to wins over:
Louisville
Norfolk St.
Middle TN. St.
Western KY.

Sorry. I'm not impressed.

What I hope is that our boys are confident, not cocky. I think the only team that can beat Alabama this weekend is Alabama. I sure hope they're really listening to what Coach Saban is saying.

Well, I never liked to get into that braggadocious "we'll stomp 'em" thing so soon... but in discussing any differeences in Ky's D this year with last - ya'll say they have the same players this year, but what you left out was that they have a new coach for defense (Chris Thurmond) - who used to coach for Alabama (he coached defense then too- the Charlie Peprah crowd) - he's good, folks - so I look for improvement in their D this year - HOWEVER: I fully expect us to win the game. I just hope it doean't turn out to be like the Tulane win: I personally like 'em to be lots more convincing that that - guess it just depends on which Alabama team shows up to play on Saturday! I just hope they're not too cocky after last week's awesome game!!
