That's not exactly a "slap on the wrist," and I like the show cause on Blake - it should've been longer though.
What N.C. did seems to be no worse than Ohio St. or Tennersee. I say ban the ncaa from college football altogether. Coach Calipari (sp) seems to think the ncaa is on their way out anyway. Guess you can tell I'm not a big fan of the ncaa, I'm sure they have their fav s'.
After we had our issues I hate to see any school go thru this. This is a hard one lots of problems there. Now, back when we just started ours and it was announced the Miami Canes coach Butch Davis was on ESPN doing an interview on Bama's probation and just simply bashed us to no end. I was so upset with what he said on TV that I just lost respect for him and said I'd never pull for a team that he coached.

You say that, and my initial response is to laugh and agree...then I think those about those 18 wins we vacated from 2005-2007. Makes me boil every time I think about it. Ouch.
Just looked it up again, link actually said it was 21 wins. Enjoy the added blood boiling. The main thing that sucks about that is 2005 was affected and I loved the 05 team I hate for anything they did to be taken away in any capacity.
By today's standards, punishment for UNC was about average.
I'm just thankful that they didn't get slammed for buying a 'SCAM type player'.
UNC could have been punished like they did Auburn...

Funny you mention Cam... UNC was one of his last options before Auburn came calling.By today's standards, punishment for UNC was about average.

IMO vacating wins as a punishment is ridiculous. Now if they make the school and the community return all the money that was spent by the fans at those games and return all TV revenues from those games then it is a fair punishment. To say nobody won those games is assinine, since the losing team cannot claim the win and forfeiting team just did not play those games. There is no consistency from the NCAA in doling out punishment.
I was in BDS the day we beat the Gators and made them quit. They can vacate all they want...but I was there...and it happened.
IMO vacating wins is one of the most ridiculous attempts at penalizing an offending program I have ever heard. First, and most importantly, who the hell cares if you vacate the wins, the teams that lost do not get the win. If vacating a win means the game was never played then the school and every merchant in the community should refund all their revenues for those weekends, then it would mean something. Silly yes, no more silly than vacating wins.
When punishment is laid out, if the NCAA believes the infractions were a program veering of course that has historically abided by the rules, they are not going to hammer that team.
