I love it. It looks like the naazi's have taken hold of a hot potato that they can't drop. Let's just hope that more and more schools will put them on notice that they're not going to meekly submit to their arrogant mandate.

Excellent letter to the NCAA!! Personally, I hope the NCAA continues its arogance in this matter so that they continuing to get growing bad press on the matter. Who knows, maybe schools will get so ticked off about this that they will demand changes in the NCAA.

You go, Kupchella!

One of the most well thought out, intelligent, and unarguable defenses I've ever seen in print! The NCAA lawyers will have a very tough time responding to the questions presented, as their answers will lead them deeper into the mire where they already are. As one wrote above, this is one "hot potato" the NCAA may wish they never took out of the oven!

Its time for the NCAA to fish or cut bait.

They are bing made to look awfully foolish with their half baked political correct scheme. It's time for them to put their best spin on this issue while backing away gracefully from this initiative.
I admire the writing ability of the UND president and the craftiness of his construction, to say nothing of cajones.
The credibility of the NCAA is at an all time low. I love it.

Law Suits Flying

Florida State, Illinois, North Dakota, and others according to the FSU board are considering legal action for discrimination excluding The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, The Volunteers of Tennessee with Rifle in hand, The Minute Men of MIT with rifle in hand, The Texas Tech Red Raiders with two Pistols in hand and so on. The NCAA is in a fire storm of controvery and now the twelve white members who made this rediculious claim to began with will are being ask on what basis (studies, polls, mediation). It is apparent that these men are well in over their heads and not much thought was put into their decesion. We are not surprise due to the fact the NCAA is not the moral police or even a legal body of any kind. The NCAA does not make social laws nor can they enforce such a stupid bylaw to begin with. Did anyone think to ask the Native American Indians. No. Did anyone at the NCAA ask for legal advice before making such a boneheaded vote. No. Indy Star is reporting a backlash due to the fact only the Native American Indian was targeted. Simply put the NCAA has finally got itself into one huge mess.

He brings up some geographical issues in that letter. Does that mean that The University of Alabama can no longer host an event since it would be played in the city of Tuscaloosa?

Btw, when in school a prof asked people to name places named after people. I said Tuscaloosa. All I got was a blank stare.

Fantastic Letter! Well written (like it wouldn't have been) and

I especially love the way he played both good cop and bad while being quite diplomatic in his delivery! the sarcasm was also quite apparant!

I am hopeful that the NCAA doesn't back down and they get completely embarrassed in court over this issue and I also hope Myles Brand and Wally Renfroe his pupit on a string are sent packing!

Alabama is an indian name. I am sure if these other schools dont get this PC stopped we could get sued down the road. You know how much they like us.
Wait till some lawyer sues on behalf of offended animals. Think of the mascots.
Sound strange? Hide and watch.

You've gotta be kidding?

I hope you didn't explain the translation of that name, did you? Because if the NCAA ever hears that the University of Alabama plays its home games in a city named after the "Black Warrior," we're going to be staring down that barrel again...

:D

And this was a prof who'd been at UA for about 20 years. I lived in Tuscaloosa from 1st-3rd grade and I even knew that tidbit.

Yep, we'll be looking down the barrel again.

what amazes me is that every time we try to say the NCAA is out of control, there are those who hate Alabama who just say "get over it, you got what you deserved" We've been screaming about unchecked power for years now and they just keep giggling, well not so many of them are giggling now, and they won't giggle at all if the NCAA's next "mission" happens to be on their campus.

Until somebody whips them in court, I'm not talking settlement, I'm talking whipping their butt, they will continue to act as god and creator.
