How was it bad? He got approval from the owner, didn't fake a heart attack, etc...People say the way Saban left Miami was bad and it was,
If I may - the story I heard is.....when rumours were swirling about his leaving the Dolphins...he repeatedly insisted he was not leaving. How was it bad? He got approval from the owner, didn't fake a heart attack, etc...
I get it, we were following it closely, but what he said was the truth when he said it. you'd think 'fans' would learn how their coach's mind works, but apparently the folks in Miami aren't serious football fans. Saban got a raw deal with the media coverage, but he did nothing wrong. If I may - the story I heard is.....when rumours were swirling about his leaving the Dolphins...he repeatedly insisted he was not leaving.
Then he left.
Left a bad taste in some fans' mouths.
Yeah - and I understand how passionate we are as fans. Most of the time it's a good thing but you can only carry so much baggage with you - as a fan or a person - and then it does nothing more than slow you down.I get it, we were following it closely, but what he said was the truth when he said it. you'd think 'fans' would learn how their coach's mind works, but apparently the folks in Miami aren't serious football fans. The Miami people weren't too nice about it. And yeah he didn't fake a conniption...How was it bad? He got approval from the owner, didn't fake a heart attack, etc...
You guys crack me up.I don't trust or think much of the whinings or blabberings of a rat. I'm pretty sure UM's "loyalty and trustworthiness" rep is about to take a big hit. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see him shown the door before too long.
Those Miami people were simply mad because he CHOSE to leave their city, which they consider to be a major cultural mecca full of superior sophisticates, to come to Alabama, which they consider to be a third-world backwater, full of uneducated troglodytes. If he had been fired from Miami and then came to Alabama, that would have been fine because it wouldn't have felt as if someone was inferring that Alabama was somehow a preferred choice over Miami. It was a bitter pill for them to ever be placed at a position of lower inferred value than Alabama. The Miami people weren't too nice about it. And yeah he didn't fake a conniption...
Coach Saban wanted to finish out the season at Miami & then makes his decision to take the Bama job or not..The media & fans wouldn't leave the man alone to finish the season at Miami..Folks wanted answers right then & there..It put Coach Saban in a no win situation..I blame the fans & the media for how things went down in Miami..If I may - the story I heard is.....when rumours were swirling about his leaving the Dolphins...he repeatedly insisted he was not leaving.
Then he left.

Later in an interview he explained at that time (just before leaving) he couldn't reveal certain details of his departure. I forgot what the details were, but at least he offered an explanation.
