Not a lot of love from the Gator Nation for Urban right now.

His stock began to drop when he left to take time off for family then went back to work.

It's been downhill since but this.......terrible......makes us REALLY appreciate Coach Muschamp so much more.

These things happen all the time. Coaches are always turning in other schools, and themselves. It's just not supposed to get out to the public. Makes for a good story though when a coach turns in his old team.

How was it bad? He got approval from the owner, didn't fake a heart attack, etc...
If I may - the story I heard is.....when rumours were swirling about his leaving the Dolphins...he repeatedly insisted he was not leaving.

Then he left.

Left a bad taste in some fans' mouths.

Later in an interview he explained at that time (just before leaving) he couldn't reveal certain details of his departure. I forgot what the details were, but at least he offered an explanation.

Fans can be a little anal at times.

I get it, we were following it closely, but what he said was the truth when he said it. you'd think 'fans' would learn how their coach's mind works, but apparently the folks in Miami aren't serious football fans. Saban got a raw deal with the media coverage, but he did nothing wrong.

Yeah - and I understand how passionate we are as fans. Most of the time it's a good thing but you can only carry so much baggage with you - as a fan or a person - and then it does nothing more than slow you down.

Fans just need to move on, no matter what the circumstances are. Yeah tell that to LSU...right.

If you listen to Coach Saban...it's pretty clear it was a difficult decision but one that made a lot of sense for all involved. I can also understand how certain fans will never understand all the circumstances involved in his decision.

So the Pantoni guy read on a recruiting website of "the bump" and then told Meyer. Like the commercial says, "if it's on the Internet then it's got to be true."

I don't trust or think much of the whinings or blabberings of a rat. I'm pretty sure UM's "loyalty and trustworthiness" rep is about to take a big hit. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see him shown the door before too long.
Every organization has it's little secrets, and no one wants to share theirs with someone they can't trust to keep their mouth shut.
Remember: "If they'll do it with you, they'll do it to you."

The Miami people weren't too nice about it. And yeah he didn't fake a conniption...
Those Miami people were simply mad because he CHOSE to leave their city, which they consider to be a major cultural mecca full of superior sophisticates, to come to Alabama, which they consider to be a third-world backwater, full of uneducated troglodytes. If he had been fired from Miami and then came to Alabama, that would have been fine because it wouldn't have felt as if someone was inferring that Alabama was somehow a preferred choice over Miami. It was a bitter pill for them to ever be placed at a position of lower inferred value than Alabama.

Saban choosing to leave Miami for Alabama surely felt to those haughty elitists the same as losing a supermodel wife to a fat, currently-unemployed former city sanitation worker would feel to a superstar professional athlete. Their spiteful reaction was primarily fueled by their excessive, unjustified narcissism. I have visited Miami as well as many other major metropolitan areas and if I derived a coefficient to represent the difference between the opinion that residents of a metropolitan area have of themselves and the opinion that others have of the residents of that metropolitan area, I'm sure that the value for Miami would top all the others and likely by quite a large margin.

Because of this, I loved the reaction from Miami. I hope it was as painful for them as it seemed to be from viewing their reaction. I hope that they're still hurting, especially Dan Le Batard.

Coach Saban wanted to finish out the season at Miami & then makes his decision to take the Bama job or not..The media & fans wouldn't leave the man alone to finish the season at Miami..Folks wanted answers right then & there..It put Coach Saban in a no win situation..I blame the fans & the media for how things went down in Miami..
