I'm going to assume that if the wife is there the decision will still come today, not tomorrow.
I agree - also, of note, no sign of Gene Smith. How is he still on "vacation"? Answer - it was never a "vacation".

To be fair, if Gene is fired, he was sent packing weeks ago. That means that they found something ugly, and they found it right away.

Since none of us actually know what happened - yet, I would like to ask a question to those who want Urban fired: Can you number the hairs on Urban's head?

For the record I have never like him and always thought he looked like a crook but I do not like to be part of a lynch mod. I will wait and see what those who are closest to the situation rule.

CliffsNotes version (from what I've been told): Ohio State's BoT wants to reinstate Urban Meyer immediately. University president Michael Drake is balking at that; wants Meyer to serve a suspension. Meyer refuses to serve suspension since he thinks he did nothing wrong. #Buckeyes
Interesting. I had read or heard someone in the last few days make the statement that, if the decision was for him to serve a suspension, Meyers may go “all in” with reinstate now or fire me.

If this is the case, I guess we’ll find out who blinks first.

If it's Meyer plus the Board of Trustees versus the President, the President blinks first.

He might not blink if he is a man of principle. He is set for life - no need to blink. I have no idea if the report is accurate or not, but he works for the BoT. They will decide this, not him. He can raise concerns, and he gets a vote, but he does not make the decision.

Drake is a NJ guy who lived most of his adult life in CA. Not trying to get political, but he would be far more inclined to get on board with doing something just to satisfy the metoo movement than anyone else in the room. So I can see the possibility of dissension on that front, but it would not drag out this long. Why? Because the BoT would choose Urban over Drake 100 times out of 100.

Exactly. He may care enough to argue the point but he's almost certainly not going to care enough to lose his job over it.

"You've been a bad boy, Urban. Go sit in the corner for 15 minutes and think about what you did. Let that be a lesson to you. Did you get some stuff done around the house during your paid leave?"

I don't see how someone doesn't end up taking a fall for this. Sounds like they are going to decide Urbz did what he was supposed to do (eye roll) by reporting his assistant up the line. (Rhetorically, I'm not sure why it had to play out this way -- if the Buckeyes gave up six passing touchdowns to Penn State and Urban fired the DB Coach that night, I'd expect that is clearly within his authority).

So, someone up the chain of command dropped this (or swept it under the rug). The University President probably doesn't want to conduct the investigation to find out who that was and why they decided what they did, especially if it was him. That information may or may not be in the law firm report. But if he wants to discipline the head football coach and the Board of Trust (or whatever they call it) overrules him, I don't see how he doesn't resign.

Not to hijack the thread but....fairly or unfairly, there are a LOT of people now that are GLAD Ohio State wasn't the #4 seed in the playoff last year.

And I'm talking about people who wanted them for it.

Wait, am I making football the priority here? Well, then I'd fit in just fine anywhere.
