USA Today Line on Bama....

Since when does being an underdog equal no respect? All it means is that some guy in Vegas thinks that Vegas can win more with the line at Arkansas -6.

Sheridan sets the USA Today lines and he had been saying all along until last week that Alabama would be favored against Ark. I assume the Croyle injury is the reason for his change of opinion. Look at it this way: Bama as a six point underdog is a bargain for anyone that might choose to wager on it.

tHAT SPREAD IS PROBABLY BASED UPON ARK. GIVING TEXAS A TOUGH GAME AND BRODIE.THE GENERAL PUBLIC OUTSIDE OF ALABAMA DOESN'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT US.

Typically by rule isnt the home team favored by 6 in close games? I see no problem with it. Besides then we can say we upset the piggies.

If the teams are roughly equal...

then the home advantage is generally considered to be three points. I guess our QB uncertainties add the other three

I'll tell you something from some recent experience...

I'm in an office pool this season, and last week, I had a hard trime deciding some games that were to be within a TD. I went with the odds from USAToday and Sheridan, being I had a hard time deciding who to pick. Guess what? Half of those picks ended up wrong.

The oddsmakers can make a pretty good guess, but there are some intangibles that can't be measured by numbers. We'll see Saturday.

I think in some instances it doesn't hurt to be the underdog. As long as we win it doesn't matter what the point spread is. I guess if you have money on the game it does, but I just want a win. :BigA:

The line on Saturday's game is starting to move back toward Bama. I've seen Arkansas now being favored by 5 and 5 1/2 in some places. That line should continue to decrease as the week goes on and the initial shock and emotion of the Croyle injury wears off.

jdpas29,

What do you mean when you say both sides have to play better than they have so far? Our offense is averaging over 40 pts a game. Now, defense, sure we need to and will improve as the season goes on as we are very young. But as a Hog fan, I couldn't be more excited about our offense's ability to move the ball. We have gained 1577 yards in 3 games. I'd say that is pretty impressive with such inexperience.
