Interesting to see how politics plays a role in this. Of course some of the guys tow the company (i.e. conference) line and then you have guys like Gary Pinkel (of Mizzou) who knows who will be buttering his bread come next year. Ironically enough, Larry Fedora (who some think would be a perfect fit at A&M) voted OK St. 3 and us at 2. Should be interesting to see how that plays into whether or not he gets that gig.

Also, an element that I haven't seen discussed in how it possibly helped us out was David Shaw (Stanford's Head Coach) ranking it 1. LSU 2. Bama 3. Stanford 4. Oklahoma St. I appreciate that. I might send Coach Shaw a thank you card.
Shaw was probably doing that for his own selfish reasons. He wanted to help Stanford to get to #4, so that the BCS would be required to take them. Still, a thank you note would be most appropriate. ;)

And I think Gary Pinkel's ballot could have been one final "thank you" note to the Big 12. :D

Brando is slamming SEC, Us, all coaches whio voted for bama, he says the Right 2 teams are there but the process is a joke, even called out CNS for voting OSU 4th.
CNS has a right to vote how he wants. But I do agree it is a flawed process that allows coaches with a conflict of interest to help decide the race. But it is still the process we have this season. Deal with it now, and change it in the offseason.

I wonder if the Air Force coach is mad they weren't invited to the Big XII-II-I+I-I so he voted OSU fifth.

Actually, I would have voted Stanford #3, as well. Loss to Oregon is way better than loss to Iowa State. The best point made in the whole business was that if we lost to Vandy or Mississippi State instead of LSU no one (including us) would dare mention us for the BCSNCG.

I hope they are working on the computer programs -- they overrated Big Whatever Teams this year. What do you think the LSU vs. Iowa State score would have been?

When Brando comes on I change channels.

Coach Saban voted LSU, ALabama, Stanford, then OSU. That will be a talking point, I bet.
If your principle for voting is that the quality of your loss matters:

2. Alabama (loss to #1 LSU)
3. Standford (loss to #5 Oregon)
4. Iowa St. (loss to Iowa State)

makes complete sense.

Brad Edwards, the BCS Guru, recalculated the points by swapping any 4th or 5th place votes for 3rd place ones...and Ok St still came up pretty short...so they can quit crying. Even a 3rd place vote wouldn't have helped them...

I would have voted Stanford 3rd too, because with their Defense and running game I say they run over Okie St...

A few other coaches voted Stanford ahead of OSU...I don't see the big deal. People making a big deal out of it are reaching, imo.

I've said all along Stanford had a better argument than OSU...they lost to Oregon, and played 4 ranked teams including USC who except for sanctions would probably be a Top 10 team. They've been ranked ahead of OSU in the other polls for couple weeks already anyway.
Coaches are going to vote in their teams best interest and you can't fault them for that.

There is logic to this post. Nick Saban is not a pleaser, as we see in his press conferences, through the season. So what if he thought OSU's loss to an unranked team made them 4th in the nation.

I tuned into Finebaum's show for a period of about 20 minutes. He was on a rampage of how "disingenuous" Nick Saban was for voting OSU #4. I could not listen any longer. I thought he was the only one in the nation who did so, until I got home and saw this thread. There were five in the nation voting OSU #4 and one voting them #5 for a total of six. So, when the media complains, they need to call out all the others, as well. Don't make it look like NS was the only one voting OSU #4 or lower.
