Hard to believe that basketball is getting off with no further sanctions is baffling. I think we all knew the show cause for Pearl was coming. He was a good coach, hate to see he has basically ruined his college coaching career.

I don't think many expected much of anything for the football team.

All I can say is......couldn't happen to a sleazier person. Between his time at Tennesse and the Deon Thomas incident, there is no way Bruce Pearl will ever coach D1 basketball again. (I will say unlikely, but who knows.) Maybe one day Bruce Pearl can pull a Norman Dale.

Good. I don't remember the NCAA giving out a show cause for these kinds of violations. I hope this sets a precedent because I think that getting to the coaches (and their ability to make a living) is the most effective way to police this kind of wrongdoing.

Of the people that have been given the show cause penalty only one (Todd Bozeman) has returned to college as a head coach.

for the sake of CDD and the football program, this is obviously a sigh of relief....now they can work around the very obstacles they thought they would have to overcome when they showed up.

I think 3 years for BP is a little steep. he committed NO serious actual recruiting violations. i realize the show-cause is for the lying and the cover-up, and not so much for the infractions themselves, but 3 years is a bit much, at least in my opinion
