See ya around, and the Sugar bowl should be a good one for us fans of both teams. I'm pretty excited that Bama is starting to get things together again, and we are playing in a BCS bowl this year...... woooo hooooooooo

A good example of the high caliber of discourse on the Utah board...

I think inbred and uneducated posts are spot on when it comes to Alabama and the SEC in general. I should know, I spent years living in the south.

Those of you wanting a light, airy and uplifting month of genteel conversation are simply not going to get one. Cast ye your pearls before swine all ye will, thats still a pig at the gatherin' end.

How many of you who want only a certain type of erudite, "smack-lite" discourse for the next month have ever even been to the South?

Hell, the whole state of Alabama smells like hot dog water.

We just will show class because we could say about one million things about Utah.

What I find funny is that this guys makes a point that we will not produce good cival conversation and then he immediately goes silly, ignorant mode full of sterotypes.

From what I have seen so far on that site, I will have to take your word that is not respresentative of the normal Ute fan. Is there another Ute forum that is more "family friendly"?

I guess TideFans has conditioned me to a more civil discourse so that many of the things said on that site just jump off the screen at me. Thanks Mods for keeping it clean over here.

Well, there are a few voices of reason over there in UTE world....

Alabama is one of the most storied programs in college football. They have the #1 rated recruit of 2007 playing at wide receiver and their roster is a who's-who of former high school stars. They're stocked with young talented players, Saban is one hell of a coach, and they have veteran leadership that's propelled them to five weeks in the number one spot. They play in arguable the best conference in the nation and took Florida to the waning minutes of the game before falling.

Their facilities, budget, boosters, band, history, success, and everything else about them is about as "big time" as it gets. Their budget is triple, if not quadruple ours, so the luxuries they can afford pales in comparison to our "humble" spread. Playing the 2008 version of Alabama is as good as it is going to get.

So...

Let's give them their due respect and let's cut the redneck-hillbilly-stuff. If you want to talk smack about them, do it in chat. Posting idiotic rantings and pandering to your 'jerk' side on a public message board is just poor form. It makes us look moronic and gives them the green light to pull the Mormon and polygamist stuff. Alabama has a TON of super-classy fans to go along with a TON of idiot-fans, so let's open our ears and keep our mouths shut. They are going to NATURALLY be condescending towards us - we are their version of Weber State. Yes, I'm being gestapo and free-speech poopy-pants, but hey, I'm just encouraging everyone to take the high road....but we ain't TDS, so you do what you do - it doesn't make you a lesser fan; all I'm saying is that whatever jerk thing you say, isn't representing me.

it's amazing as far as I can tell Bama has never played the utes..(If I'm wrong would like to know when) So why is there so much hate for a team they do not know anything about. I don't dislike the Utes I don't disrespect them but after reading thir board and reading all the name calling sounds like something you would hear from a Barner fan.. I just hope that the fans on that board is the few classless fans and that the fans that show up in La. have class and be willing to talk football. I am just in awww about the Hate from these people.:conf2:

Sorry for that, and I thought at first it was a live bird, my bad........

I gotta run now, but I will check on some things from the Utah's program. I like bowl games for this reason because you get to see what other schools are all about. Still wish college football would get a darn playoff one day, but that would take me forever to write about all that....

Since you can't have any fun Utah, except for having more than one wife. Well, maybe I should rethink that. I guess they think they can raid our boards & talk smack. Thanks, to you and everyone else who has welcomed me here, I have been treated very well seems to be a respectable board.

Our D is very strong. We load 8 up in the box and take away the run, and play man to man on the outside we have very good DB's.

Our O is... interesting... at times it looks like the best in the nation then it will go through spells where we can't even get a first down, but it seems to get the job done as we have scored over 30 in all but 3 games. Brian Johnson is money in the 2 minute drill, there is no one else I would rather have in pressure situations.

We also mix in the "wildcat" but we have been running it since UM left, the Fin's stole it from us.

If I were Utah, I would worry that I only scored 13 against TCU. Then again, you only allowed 10 to TCU. Then again, Bama scored 20 on Florida, a team with a better scoring defense. Then again, TCU allows 2 ppg fewer than Bama. Then again...

I could go on and on. IMO, our advantages are:

* Our confidence
* Our punishing style of play
* Our level of competition week after week
