What does Jalen Milroe, Peyton Thorne and Taylen Green all have in common???

They all had better overall QB stats than Nico, and this dude held out for more money. No way you’re worth 4 million and you’re a middle of the pack QB in a conference such as the SEC.

I would tell him to kick rocks too

So his NIL deal coming out of high school was said to be $8 million over four years. Supposedly he is set to make $2.2 million this his third year.

Saying “I want $4 million now” is just plain stupid. I’d say “well buh-bye…”
which is what they said. Can’t believe I’m saying this but good for UTn that they did say buh-bye. Hope we have guts to do same for any player that tries to hold us hostage.

hope he transfers to a mid major and sits the bench and transfers again and again and again … some of these guys are about to see how life treats them when they arent a star at a top school. Hope he hasnt wasted his first year after tax wages

He could be the next TJ Finley; well traveled.

Evidently, the situation has already set some of the other coaches off:

"We're not going to do that at Miami," Cristobal said. "If anyone is thinking that, they can be the best player in the world. If they wanna play holdout, they might as well get out."

Other coaches can beat their chests and bare their teeth all they want. The real question is whether this ends up working for Nico.

IOW, now that his mindset is publicly known, will another school take Nico? And if so, what will they pay him?

If Nico ends up either without a school or with a pay package less than he made at UTe, that'll serve as a lesson to everyone else -- coaches and players. If he ends up somewhere making more than he made at UTe, it worked for him and that'll teach a different lesson.

And what happens if Nico realizes he's overplayed his hand and withdraws from the portal? Given what's happened, would UTe take him back at his current pay? I tend to think that bridge is burned. But it would make for interesting theater.
