CAG needs to lock the gym at the next practice and not let anyone out until they have made 100 FTs and 10 in a row. Our BB coach would let us quit if we could 20 in row otherwise we had to do the 100/10.

I just dont get with young players these days and free throw shooting. Shoot, I thought it was the easiest thing in the game to do when I played.

AMEN!!!

Free throws are automatic. Shooting 8-17(the last stat I recall seeing) is unacceptable. I take issue with Vandy shooting 20 more free throws than us but like CAG said in his postgame, "we have to put our destiny in our own hands". In context that was a nice bit of paralipsis implying that the ref's horrible calls or no calls should be the difference. If Bama hits their free throws they win despite the poor zebras.

We actually hit 10 of 17. They made 30 of 37, less even than our %. I think a bunch of their misses were by the big guy, Oglesby...

You mis-typed how many Vandy hit...20 not 30.

Bama's offense was stagnent the last 7-8 minutes. I could see this coming; Vanderbilt's zone messed up Bama's offense. Maybe only 2 "decent" shots late in the game and they didn't drop; a 3-point attempt and a jumper in the paint. Tough one to lose at home.

The no call foul at the end may have prevented us from winning the game, and the officiating in general may have been poor, or even suspect. However that's not an excuse for poor FT shooting, which as been an issue at UA for several years. IMO it should be one of the first things addressed and corrected.

On a different note, football season is over, we are already into the SEC basketball schedule, and we still barely have any participation on this board. I wonder if anyone is going to notice our BB team before March.....

It looked like a good amount of empty seats from what I could tell from TV. However, the ones that were there seemed into it.

Everyone needs to get behind this team and support them. If you have been following the program the intensity and effort level is what amazes me. CAG has instilled a new desire in our team. It is exciting to watch Alabama basketball again.

Being as my basketball career ended in the 5th grade, I know nothing about the x's and o's of the game. But I finally got an opportunity to see us on TV last night for the first time this year, and can I tell you how nice it was to see someone on the sideline that looked like he was in complete control of the situation. Not knocking the past, but man, I feel much better about the future.

That being said, I hope the crowd picks up. And we better learn how to make free throws.

I hate it when an announcer says, "they aren't going to call that in the last few seconds of the game." Why not? They would call it in the first five seconds of the game. The rules are the same throughout the entire 40 minutes. They are supposed to be anyway.
Amen on that. I HATE referees calling the last, say, two minutes of a game differently than they called the rest of the game. Pathetic.

Imagine if umpires in baseball decided to call balls and strikes differently during extra innings. Same thing.

Why was Anthony Brock handling the ball on the last play? It looked like Torrance got open on the inbound play and the ball should have went to him. Loved the energy level of the team. Need to see more consistent play from Green.

Doubtful. How was the crowd tonight? I was supposed to go down but got caught up in something else.
I've been out of work for several months now, so tickets to sporting events are not in my budget. I'll listen on the radio or watch a game on the tube if it's televised. Otherwise, I just get news and reviews of the game wherever I can.
Mrs. Reb was out of town and I was at home alone. At least I could turn up the radio, shut my eyes and pretend I was there. :cool2:

I must admit CMG just about killed any interest I have in basketball. I am having a hard time getting interested in any game much less Bama games. Its probably going to take me a while to get to where I was.

Its amazing about 12 yrs ago I was a season ticket holder and I went from that to barely caring about basketball. Thanks CMG.

Hey JD- Mark isn't there anymore so loosen up and check us out. I live in Ft walton and I still make it to 2-3 games a year. Takes me about 3 1/2 hours to get to Coleman but it's worth every minute! My wife couldn't care less about football but when it comes to bball- she's all in. We have a great time every time we go to Ttown. Had a beer with Mark Gottfried about 2 weeks ago in Orange Beach, nice guy. We talked about Bama and he had nothing but nice things to say about it- said he had actually talked to Grant before he took the job and encouraged him to take it. Also said that he wished things would have ended differently- that it wasn't an ideal ending for him. I love what he did for us but was also happy when they decided to go another direction. Can't take anything away from Gottfried though- that run to the Elite Eight was nothing short of miraculous.

Finally get to listen to a game (WZRR). The wife's gone to grandma's and I've got the house to myself.

We need a win to makeup for the home loss.
