Vandy and Georgia Fight

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

Cut blocks do happen in the open field. DBs, LBs and lineman get cut on every play in open space including stretch runs, screens and draws. Remember Donte having his knee injury? The result of a cut block. A legal cut block and Donte never complained one bit about it. Was the block legal that the Vandy player threw? It was borderline and I would have thrown a flag as an official but I do not think it was done with intent.
Come on now, let's watch the video objectively. The Vandy player dove at the back of Geathers' knee, from the back side of the play, and at the end of the play after the ball carrier was out of bounds. It was a below-the-knee clip and it was intentional. The Vandy player is lucky Geathers didn't beat the living daylights out of him.

I said it earlier in this thread, but some of the things the Vandy players are doing this year are borderline dirty. I appreciate Franklin's new attitude and aggressiveness, but some of things I've seen Vandy players doing right at or after the whistle this season are going to cause a brawl before it's all said and done.

Whether the block was wrong or not does not justify Geathers hitting him. If it did, Julio would have been allowed to whip at least one DB a game while at Alabama. He should have had more composure and made a big play next time. No need to punch the guy.

I agree, and posted earlier instances of retaliation that shouldn't have happened.

However the point is still valid. This is starting to add up on them. If it was one player retaliating for a dirty play that is one thing. This appears to be happening every game including Alabama. Upshaw should not have kicked the player and should have been flagged, but if this is happening every game somewhere down the line some kid is going to get hurt, and there will be retaliation above a punch or a kick.

Why is this a thread? Does anybody really care about either Georgia or Vandy.
Good point. However, we probably see Georgia. That hit on a receiver no where near the ball will get some attention. Long time from now though.

I'll date myself again, but I haven't seen a cheaper shot on a receiver since David Langer, the Human Ebola Virus, played for Auburn.

Between the hedges
I overheard a couple UGA fans talking at the gym last night and one of them was ranting about how Alabama, LSU, Florida, and Auburn have a "different set of rules than everybody else." He was griping that an Alabama player threw a punch at a Florida player and didn't get flagged. I wanted to call him out on his fabricated little "story," but I just rolled my eyes and considered the source. I guess when you get dominated by a few teams over a few years, there's nothing left to do but blame the refs
Dominated?? You must be a newcomer to s.e.c football. The teams you mention, besides florida have hardly dominated us the past decade. I think you may want to do a little research before you talk smack. Best of luck against the little orange saturday, hope you guys shut them out.
