Humm, I wonder why ole game picker Charles Hollis from the Birmingham News has not commented on the game. After all before the game he sure had a lot to say... 'Georgia should hush Bama fans' title talk.'
It's a matchup that should tell Bama fans once and for all this is no year to be dreaming about a BCS bowl. Not with a team that has nine scholarship seniors and that plays and starts as many newcomers as the Crimson Tide does.

This week's picks:

ALABAMA AT GEORGIA
Alabama's defense has just enough muscle, speed and Nick Saban ingenuity to overpower Georgia's young offensive line and get into quarterback Matthew Stafford's head. Stafford is a rhythm passer. When things are going well, when he's able to drop back and read coverage and not worry about getting touched, you'll see his NFL talent. Richt knows that, so the Tide is going to see his quick release a lot, especially on screen passes. And when the defense has to worry about running back Knowshon Moreno, who's going to help keep Stafford sane with his ability to break runs off tackle and turn a screen pass into first-and-goal, the advantage goes to Georgia. Yes, Alabama's offense can make a difference Saturday against what may be the SEC's best overall defense. But there's a mathematical difference that comes into play. one last commentary from the orlando sentinel

its past 24 hrs, but i think we were given 48 this week, ran into this reading about florida's loss to OM
Saban has brought that swagger and discipline back. Alabama is the fiercest team in the SEC, the antithesis of Urban Meyer's dinky spread attack. The Tide hits you harder, blocks you harder and tackles you harder.

Playing Alabama these days is just so uncomfortable. Bryant would approve.
The Tide plays with the passion of a team that simply won't be denied and the innocence of a team that doesn't know it's not yet supposed to be this good.

I actually read that article! I'm a frequent reader of the morning tabloids and after the Clemson game, TOS has been showing us A LOT of love! It works out perfectly for me because I've already converted three people down here, one from Idaho, the other from New Jersey, and the last from Naples, FL (all weren't college football fans). I wish I could post each and everything they've said about Alabama football and fans because it would make you guys feel even more special for being one than you are already.

They see how passionate I am and they see how complete strangers always greet me with a Roll Tide out in public and it's like eating chocolate delight to them... And two of those three guys are coming home with me in November and I'm taking them to T-Town to give them a first class experience of where it all begins! RTR!

Great Artical.........The fear of Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide has now set in to the entire SEC, and for the most part the rest of the nation.

Good recruiting point in Finebaum column

I bet Saban cannot wait to hit the recruiting road in Georgia, reminding (maybe even bringing some video footage) recruits of what fun the Tide had dismantling these two programs on their turf!

from Finebaum's column:

"What it means is now as Alabama moves forward, recruits no longer look at Alabama only as a school of tradition but one who is competing for SEC and national championships," Luginbill said. "Ultimately, that's what every kid would like to do throughout his career."


The two titanic wins this year over Clemson and Georgia will have a residual effect in recruiting, particularly in the state of Georgia (where both games were played), which has been fertile ground obviously for the Bulldogs, nearby Clemson as well as Auburn.

really great article, by someone, that can really relate to the tide climb back. i cant believe how great this season has been already. i did not expect this football team to be this ready for big time football. we are now down to lsu, auburn, tenn maybe, as the biggest obstacle to the sec title. as they say take it one game at a time.

Maybe Alabama wouldn't be so quick to have fired Mike Shula if they knew that nobody in America who mattered would be willing to step in and replace him. Look at who has already said no. Nick Saban. Pass. The ole ball coach, no thanks. Frank Beamer, why should I? Bobby Petrino, Downgrade. Rich Rodriguez, make me. Oh, and Jim Leavitt wants nothing to do with you. That has to hurt. At this point, you might as well dig up Bear Bryant. Or better yet, see if Mike Price is still interested. Trust me, you're not going to do any better. The front of the jersey may still say Alabama but in name only. That program is nowhere right now. It's become an SEC afterthought. Enjoy the glory days of Bryant, Namath, Stabler, Stallings, Alexander, Price, because that's all you have and that is not going to change.

I'm still teed off that Rome said this about us. Looks like he's changed his opinion now, though.

I loved seeing Saban on Gameday after the game. Talk about good PR for recruiting. Oh, and the huge win over UGA didn't hurt.
