I don't really like Dan Mullen. I believe he made a snide comment about the success of Saban's quarterbacks in the NFL compared to his (quarterbacks). He reminds me of Kiffin the way he's running his mouth when he hasn't done anything yet (at MSU). This was just like Kiffin's opening speech when he said he was going to beat Florida.

Think about the coaches that spout this nonsense. It's good to have confidence sure, but come on don't raise expectations so high you can't fulfill them.

Coach Bryant and his answer to the Alumnus thinking we were gonna win a NC and him replying the hell you say I'm an Alumnus and I don't think that. Coach Saban's constant and demeanor and words regarding championships.


Then you have those like Kiffin and Weis among others listed above. Welcome to the club Dan.

Not saying he's a bad person just saying those that spout off about Championships before ever proving they can have a winning season tend to fall well short of their statements.

Then again you gotta pep the boosters up somehow I suppose.

What he did was compare apples to grapefruit. His comment was, "I believe I have had more first round draft QB's than he ( ie Coach Saban) has in his head coaching career."
Well, Danny boy, you have had Zero Qbs go to the NFL as a HEAD coach. None, nadda..el zippo! Saban has had one. (yea, I know how it turned out, but he did go first round.) And if you are gonna talk about your assistant career, do you really wanna count "what's his name?" from Utah?

I have to say, these guys make me nervous a little. Mullen is a very good coach and I will not take him or his team lightly. I just hope nobody on our coaching staff or roster does either. it wasn't long ago that they spanked us and i never want that to happen again.
Sorry guys, but I get all bent out of shape when I see anyone taking any SEC team lightly. Many times it's come back to bite us on the butt.

I agree with what you said about taking SEC teams lightly, but the rest I have to disagree...

Mullen's squad showed me absolutely nothing - last season - to fear. Whether he's a good coach or not is still undetermined. He had one signature win last year and that was against "the school up north" and let's face it: Houston Nutt always lays an egg or two each and every season to inferior opponents (and also factor in that's their championship game, much like another instate program I know of). Other than that, his team was blown away by us, Arkansas, and the barn.

I know the guy was an OC for Florida during their '06 and '08 run, but he's yet to prove anything to me as a head coach and I do understand we did in fact lose back-to-back games against MSU a few years ago, but that was against a different team and coach.

I won't take them lightly, but with that being said, I also won't lose sleep worrying about MSU the week prior to playing them, unless they do find a way to pose a threat going into that game.

Yeah, you can't really judge a coach based on his first year, but by the fourth week of 2010, I think we'll have a pretty good idea as to how good (or bad) of a coach Daniel really is.

I agree with BW anybody in the SEC, with the exception of Vandy, can beat you if your team thinks it is a showup and win. On paper they do not have a chance, but stranger things have happened. Do not think any game is a gimme.

The difference between Miss St and Bama is spelled SABAN and his ability to get the players to sell out for his way of doing things and what happens when you do, A National Championship.

The problem is it's not going to happen. It's probably never going to happen. At least not in the current environment. Is it ok to dream? Sure. But he's a professional, or supposed to be.

And honestly, if I hear "that school up north", or "that school down the road" or some other similar saying again, I'm going to throw up. That's a fRAN deal. I've always said Urban Meyer reminded me of fRAN in a way, and now I get it. Mullen is a chip off that same block. Just say the damn school's name. It makes you look like you've got an inferiority complex to refuse to do so.

Everyone's buying into Mullen as the next big thing. Now all he has to do is prove it. It's natural to have your head in the clouds when you slap the instate rival around, but it's tough selling hope when you're home in January every year...

I was going to post that. "That school up north" was cute the first couple of times he said it. Now, it is growing old and stale and sounds childish. His answer to "why do you call Ole Miss 'that school up north'" was equally childish~"Because they are north of us."

As to the tooting of his own horn, that is childish too. Is it coincidence that the two clowns of the SEC are the two bottom dwellers? I think not.

I think its time the other teams practice their own humbleness and they better worry about us instead of us about them.
