I think he might be able to save his job for an extra year or so by getting Wilcox fired first but I just don't see him leading us to the SEC Championship let alone a National Title.

If he doesn't win 2 out of 3 against UF, UGA and USC next year, I say don't even let him finish the season, just go ahead and fire him.

And it improves the scenery where I live. Memphis is more beautiful with fewer Errange car flags, t-shirts, and general hideous apparel.

The only negative is the twinge of pity I feel for Dave Hart having to muddle through in K-ville, but he chose to take the job. At least I know Hart will ensure the return of civility between the institutions.

I think both of those things played into the decision, Dallas. Recall that Derek had not really accomplished that much in Ruston, LA, as a hc and they decide to bring him to a big-time program like Tennessee?? I predicted at the time that it would prove to be a disastrous hire for them and I am standing by that. DD will not be there after 2013 and will probably end up being the director of football operations or recruiting coordinator for Saban here at Alabama--that's my prediction.

Whether it does or doesn't pan out for CDD, IMO, at programs like Alabama and Tennessee, you shouldn't hire a HC without a proven record of success as a HC. If an established guy has difficulties turning it around early, that track record gives him a leg to stand on while he evens things out.

Well, lets look back to 1998. Winning a NC was the worst thing to happen to UT. What it did was set most UT fans expectations at an unattainable level.
